This is a BIG (10' by 16') room at the back of a floor-through brownstone apartment (3 bed, 1 bath). We are looking for long-term only! Start date: June 1st or June 15th- but we are flexible! Slightly earlier move-in is also possible, or later for the perfect fit.
Room is 1600/mo + bills
Location: cross streets are Prospect and Bedford. 10 min walk to the 2/3/4/5 at Franklin, or a similar walk north to the C at Franklin or A/C at Nostrand. One block away from the Shuttle to Prospect Park and/or the B/Q lines
The flat is the entire top (4th) floor of a brownstone. We’re in a corner building so we have windows all along the east side of the house, and your bedroom has a south facing window too, looking out onto the courtyard at the back and a huge tree (quietest room I’ve ever had in Brooklyn!) You’d be taking over my room, I’m moving into the smaller room as I’ll be going to grad school next year and never home.
The rest of the apartment includes a south-facing kitchen with a big pantry, a small bathroom, and big airy living room. Hardwood floors throughout. This is an older building with lots of charm.
Our landlord is a kind, elderly lady who lives on the first floor. She owns the building and has been here for decades. Her family occupies the other apartments, and we’re the only true tenants. Her son is our live-in super, responsible for repairs etc and they’ve always been incredibly responsive and friendly.
Please note: the room will be UNFURNISHED. The rest of the apartment is of course furnished.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are hoping to find someone close to us in age, who is LGBTQ friendly. We hope to find someone who is interested in staying long term (at least one year, if not more). Unfortunately, we cannot consider short-term sublets per our landlord, and no pets.
Our biggest priority is to find someone who values tidiness and cleanliness as much as we do! We keep our apartment super clean and peaceful! We almost never host, and while neither one of us is sober, we rarely, rarely drink. This home is a friendly, calm, quiet sanctuary!
Please tell us a bit about yourself, your work/life routines and hours, and what you are looking for in a home.
Your roommates will be me: early 30s, they/them, actor and theatre artist originally from Ireland but been in New York for 8 years. I am going to grad school next year and will literally be gone for 14-hour days, 6 days a week. You will probably only see me on Sundays when I do some meal-prepping for the week.
And my roommate, Jan: early 40s, they/them, actor and theatre artist. They work long hours teaching and running a theatre company and are rarely home. They also are away multiple nights a week at their partner's place. About once or twice a month their (super friendly and lovely!) partner will stay over here.
