Big bright front-facing primary bedroom in beautiful 2-bedroom 2-floor apartment in Park Slope available for a sublet starting Feb 1 (somewhat flexible/ possibly later.) Room is partly furnished.
Prefer someone seeking to stay until at least Aug 31, or for at least 3 months (until April 30), but am flexible on that as well.
The room:
- approx. 140sq feet
- front-facing but fairly quiet with three big south facing windows that provide great natural light
- hardwood floors
- brick fireplace (not usable) and tin ceiling
- closet unit
- sole bedroom on the second floor
- AC
- The room is partly furnished – with a large antique table (in 1st photo), black metal bed frame that can fit a full or queen sized mattress (not pictured.) First photo is more recent, and second photo is older, but gives more sense of the scale etc.
The apartment:
- living room (in kitchen) futon, dining table
- kitchen with gas stove, microwave, dishwasher—back facing onto garden (no access)
- bathroom with shower and tub
- washer and dryer also in bathroom
- pictures of kitchen /living space are old (I'm out of town atm) so things look slightly different now
- the landlords are really kind and live in the downstairs unit, but they are out of town for the time being to take care of some family things. There is a very sweet young couple living downstairs for now, who have a cute, quiet little dog.
The area:
- South Slope (South Park Slope)
- short walk to 7th Ave (F/G subway), and 15th St/Prospect Park (F/G), and Prospect Ave (R subway)—which is about 5 minutes to the many connects at Atlantic Terminal
- voted New York Magazine’s number 1 place to live in New York City: lots of great bars, cafes, restaurants on 5th Ave and 7th Ave, many supermarkets/ banks/ other amenities
- 10 minute walk to Prospect Park—great for walks/ runs, picnics, and the Celebrate Brooklyn festival over the summer; 5 mins to Greenwood Cemetery also great for walks.
- short walk to two YMCAs/ other gyms and yoga studios.
Other stuff:
- The dynamic is best with someone who works out of the apt most days since I mostly wfh.
- Pets: I can't welcome any other pets for now unfortunately!
- Smoking: no smoking in the apartment please; plenty of public green spaces nearby
- I have lived in the neighborhood for 15 years and in this apartment for 8, it is my home!
Me:
- I'm a 38yo painter, writer, and teacher. I work mostly from home but also spend time at a nearby studio space. For the next few months I'll be documenting/ culling a 20-year collection of my paintings and files, reworking my doctoral dissertation into a book, and chipping away at a pt online MBA.
- I like to keep a mostly quiet home, with a relaxed, polite, and friendly dynamic.
- I’m tidy but not obsessive; sociable but respect boundaries; and appreciate clear, open communication in the apt.
- I have a playful yet lazy tuxedo cat who loves attention. She is penguin shaped and likes to sit on the stoop with me when I garden.
The price:
- $1850/ month + 1/2 electricity (usually ~$60-100/month) (includes heat, hot water, gas, internet, and laundry machines are in the apartment)
- 1st month + 1 month security deposit to move in ($3700)
- To be considered I'll need: photo id, proof of income/employment (e.g. employment letter/ pay stubs/ bank statement), credit score, and upon approval a sublease agreement form.
If you’re interested please send me an email letting me know: a little about you, your work, and approx schedule, why you are in town, and how long you need the space; and we can set up a viewing or a chat. Thanks!
