Hi! I’m subletting a 167 sq ft room with a full bathroom (w/ a real soaking tub) for one year with a possibility of longer. Utilities and WiFi included. Good light, street facing on the first floor but noise is not a big problem. . Located in a spacious duplex apartment with a big shady private backyard. There is a laundry room in the building. Two other units in the building with longtime great neighbors upstairs. There is a large comfortable living room and full kitchen shared primarily with one other very lovely, quiet roommate, she lives in the other bedroom down the hall. Doors are very thick and when shut you can’t really hear any other people in the house. There is a full finished basement rented by a couple who don’t use the kitchen much, and are out of town part of the month. They are also friendly, kind, and quiet. The room has one decent sized closet, and there is another in the hall just outside the bedroom door. There is space for a bike by
front door.
I will be moving almost all of the furniture out of the communal spaces, except for the couch and TV. So there is room for you to put your own furniture out there, as long as my upstairs roommate is OK with it.
The backyard is shadier and a little wilder than the pics show, that is from a few years ago. Two trees have matured and it’s extra woods-like and shady back there now. There are perennials out there that I planted, but more shade friendly things will need to be planted if you want a real garden. A third of the yard is paved and there is a working grill that I’m leaving behind. There’s also a hammock frame. It’s quiet out there with an abundance of fat birds and squirrels that we feed. It’s an oasis.
I’m an acupuncturist and I run a clinic in Bed Stuy nearby. I’ve happily lived in this space for thirteen years (in every room at some point), and really love it, but I’m moving in with my partner to a space that’s a better fit for us and the cat elsewhere in Brooklyn.
As long as all boundaries and requirements of the sublet are respected, I’m very easygoing and open. Happy to answer any questions about the space, building and neighborhood. I’m available at any time if there are issues or repairs needed on the apartment, just ask.
If this sublet doesn’t work out for some reason, either of us can give at least 30 days notice to end it.
Leaseholder
You must be quiet, considerate and LGBTQ+ friendly. You must be 30 or older. You must be good at negotiating a shared common space and kitchen by being clean, respecting other people’s space and communicating respectfully with me and the roommates. You’ll need to follow our lead about sharing cleaning and taking out trash and recycling. It’s ok to have friends over sometimes, or a significant other sleep over. It’s NOT ok to have more than 1-2 people over without asking the roommates, or to move your non-rent paying significant other into the apartment. No parties/BBQs unless the roommates are ok with it.
We will meet via FaceTime first, and if it feels like a fit can come see the space and meet us in person. A credit report is required. The rent must be paid on time, and one month’s deposit up front. Please have three references that are former landlords and/or roommates. Rent will be paid to me via Zelle. This term is for one year with the possibility of longer.
We will consider pets if they’re well behaved and not ridiculously large.
No yappers or sprayers please!
