Subletting our furnished 1-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom apartment in a tenement building in Chinatown, with hardwood floors and direct views onto a park looking west and lots of natural light in the living room/ study. Separate living room, dining room, and bedroom, with dishwasher and laundry machine in-unit. We have an adjustable standing desk with a monitor, a projector, and a very well-equipped kitchen (we do a lot of cooking). It's a great space for home office, with Verizon Fios. The apartment is fully furnished and decorated, as you can see on the photos. In classic tenement style, it's a fourth-floor walkup without an elevator.
The location is fantastic for local amenities and for getting around Manhattan and Brooklyn. In terms of transportation, the B & D line is 2 mins walk. Within 10 minutes or less, you've also got the J, Z, F, M, 4, 6, N, Q, R, and W lines. Plus, there's a Citi Bike station in front of our building. It takes 20-25 minutes to get to Midtown, and you can be in Brooklyn in 15-20. Soho, East Village, and Greenwich Village are within walking distance.
The area has countless bars and restaurants of all types, including, of course, some incredible (and cheap) Chinese places. There are multiple great bars and restaurants and a bodega within literally 30 seconds of our front door. There's a Trader Joe's, a Lidl, and a Whole Foods plus a Vital climbing, yoga, and fitness gym all within 10 minutes walk. Plus, there's a park just across the street, with basketball and soccer courts.
We have a window-unit A/C that we we'll install in the bedroom for your stay.
Rent includes all utilities except ConEd bill (electricity & gas; typically $100/month), as tastes can vary strongly in how much to run the A/C.
My partner and I live in this apartment, where we've been for the past 1.5 years. We work in energy and biotech, and love spending our spare time exploring New York's museums and culture. We will be traveling from May 1st until July 4th, but will be available in case there are any questions or issues. Our landlord has given his permission for the sublease; he or the supervisor can also be available if anything immediate should come up. This is our own home, so looking for someone (or a couple) who will treat it with care and respect.
