Welcome to Yaugh House Springs, a historic-landmarked 1895 sixteen room brick farmhouse atop twelve acres of land in Wurtsboro, New York. Nestled in the foothills of the Catksills, we are an hour and 20 minutes from midtown Manhattan. The village of Wurtsboro--an adorable little town with fantastic restaurants, antique stores, an art gallery and a yoga studio--is only a ten minute walk away.

Yaugh House Springs was once famous for its natural springs, and our property is a wonderfully serene oasis with terraced stone walls, two ponds, multiple bike trails, a fire circle and a "cist" for meditation and reflection. (A cist is an outdoor stone construction used for ceremonies, typical in ancient Greece and Rome) -- and we have our very own!

The house is a family home that has been passed down through the generations and is currently occupied my brother full-time and myself part time. We also have a wonderful black cat named Max who is indoor/outdoor. The family all have rooms on the second floor, and your room is on the ground floor so there would be plenty of privacy and plenty of space to spread out in.

The room itself comes with a full bed and linens, a closet, and a beautiful mid-century modern dresser. Just off your room are the entry foyer and the living room with the wood-burning stove-- so you will always be toasty warm during the cold winter months. The house features an enormous eat-in kitchen, a sweet breakfast room/pantry, a massive library, a dining room that spills out onto a brand-new cedar deck, a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, hardwood floors and cedar paneling throughout. In the basement are a washer/dryer, a workshop and a kiln.

This is a wonderful spot for an artist who wants some time to focus deeply on a project. We have had writer's retreats here in the past, and have also had a period when the pottery studio was aflutter with activity. The house is definitely rustic--you should be someone who loves the idea of throwing a log on the fire in the morning to keep the house warm. It's definitely a return to a simpler time. Don't get me wrong--we have wifi, hbo max, amazon prime and netflix-- but the vibe is ancient and mystical. A wonderful place to concentrate and get some serious work done.
