My partner and I are seeking a rental home, preferably longer term. We are both ceramicists and would ideally be able to work where we live. We recently moved back to the NY/NJ/PA area from Vermont, where we ran a functioning ceramics studio from our garage. We supported ourselves teaching and making work to sell at local farmer's markets. We also made sculptures to sell at Todd Merrill Studios and Aero, art and design galleries in New York City. We have two well behaved, very friendly cats. We are adaptable as far as living space goes and are not in search of anything specific as much as we are somewhere with a space that can be dedicated to ceramics. So long as it is clean, private, and functional we are flexible and open to a variety of living spaces. As for the ceramics, an ideal layout would be some kind of detached garage with the electrical capacity for a 240 V outlet, however any space with spare room on the ground floor and the ability to vent outside can be utilized.

About This Lister

My name is Ali and my partner is Curtis. We have been working together in ceramics for about 4 years. Curtis began ceramics in high school, continuing through college and then apprenticed for Toshiko Takaezu. As her final apprentice he lived with her indefinitely as her hands in the studio, as well as being her caretaker and friend. We met working in a kitchen years later when he was working at her studio after her passing, and I learned ceramics with him there. Since then we've enjoyed teaching a wide variety of classes together, and would like to continue doing so. When we don't have students we spend our days working in the studio, continuing to explore the process of clay. We love nature and gardening, and our animals most.
