Very charming 2 to 3 bedroom cottage available for Sublet from mid December to the end of February. Dates somewhat flexible but we prefer one continuous rental.
In the village of Pawling New York at the the southern end of Dutchess County. The house is within the village and is walking distance to Metro North train station which brings you to Grand Central in a little under two hours. This Sublet would require care of a number of house plants and a couple of outdoor plants in addition to just keeping the house occupied. It is a charming little Boho cottage full of my collection of odds and ends and bits and pieces of curious items and artwork, and so I request an occupant who will be mindful and careful of these things some of which are rather delicate but nothing that is extremely valuable.
The house is heated by a furnace that blows hot air and heats up the house quite nicely and there is also a pellet stove in the kitchen dining area which creates a cozy ambience. Included in the Sublet are all utilities and Wi-Fi.
There are two bedrooms with a third room being used as a workshop with sewing machines and other areas to do artwork. It is also available as a third bedroom.
There's a half bath on the first floor and a full bath on the second floor.
I have several pets which will not be in residence at the house. Cats and dogs.
The village of Pawling is quite cute if rather uneventful so if you want a period of peace and quiet or to have a little retreat from the city this would be your place. There is a pub with food and a slightly fancy restaurant/bar with pretty decent food and a few Mexican joints with good food . The town is close to the Connecticut border and about 25 minute drive to Poughkeepsie and the Hudson River. Also about 35 minutes to Beacon. While One doesn't necessarily need a car to stay here it could be useful. However there is an active taxi service so should one Sublet the house without a car the taxi can bring you to the supermarket and back and to other destinations where a car might be required.
Did I mention the house is walking distance to the metro north train station. In the winter one can even see the train go to and fro between Wassaic and the southeast station where you transfer to the main line to go to Grand Central terminal.
It is a very quiet location adjoining a cemetery and with only one actual neighbor of the street. It's like having your own private park right in the backyard.
There is a washer and dryer. It is a simple abode but cozy and charming and ideal for a writer or someone who works remotely.
Not recommended for humans under 10 years old.
I am at an artist and a maker of various things in many different mediums. I have owned this house for three years and have been gradually moving into it and filling it up with oh so many things. I love my little house which really is a work in progress and I am looking for someone who will keep an eye on it while I am away for 2 1/2 months. The rent reflects the partial trade for keeping an eye on the house.
I ask for two references and $500 deposit
Cats and dogs welcome who are well behaved and do not destroy furniture.
