Couple looking for Queens apartment

Seeking Living Space

Available

December 15, 2025 - December 31, 2026

Neighborhood

Queens, New York

My spouse and I are planning to move back to Queens later this year (we temporarily moved to Long Island for the past couple of years). Our ideal move-in window is Dec 15-Jan 15, but we have some flexibility on either end. I know we're searching a bit early for NYC apartment searches, but if you like planning ahead, we'd love to plan ahead with you.

We are looking to rent an entire apartment, not sublet a room. Our hope is to find a place we can stay for 5-6 years, maybe longer. Here are our criteria:

- Ideally not more than $2,500 in rent, but we can do up to $2,600
- At least 1-bedroom, but the more space, the better (a 2-bedroom would be great, but this is difficult to come by in our price range; dining areas, usable foyers, and other forms of extra space are a big plus)
- Ideally a 10-15 min walk to the E in Kew Gardens/Forest Hills, though we will also consider Richmond Hill closer to the J/Z, Rego Park/Elmhurst off the M/R, and Briarwood off the F/E
- Permits cats
- Ideally top floor (I am sensitive to noise from upstairs neighbors), though we will also consider buildings with good noise insulation (e.g., concrete, extra insulation materials, etc.)
- Real hardwood floors in living room/bedroom

About This Lister

We're in our 30's and both work in academic research, one of us at Hunter College and the other at Stony Brook University. We have one very adorable cat, with hopes to get another one soon after we move. We are very clean and quiet, and like to occasionally have friends over for dinner. We're hoping we can live somewhere where we can be friends (or at least friendly) with our neighbors. We both have stable income, excellent credit, and good savings.
