Seeking someone to sublet and potentially take over one room in a 2B/1Ba on a gorgeous block of Carroll Street, right by the Botanical Gardens. The apartment itself is an entire floor of a two-story townhouse. Our landlord, Doug, lives on the first floor, and is incredibly thoughtful and responsive. Your room is a truly massive, private space at the back of the apartment (down a very long hallway). You could fit two king beds with wiggle room. Three windows overlook a quiet back yard and there are THREE closets. Basically a studio.
Your roommate, James, 31M, works remotely in education development from his own office at the other end of the apartment. You’d share a quaint penny-tiled bathroom with shower and tub, a huge kitchen with plenty of counter and storage space, and a furnished living AND dining room. There is also access to a balcony. The room looks a little hectic right now because I've been traveling, but it's an unbelievably cozy, homey, beautiful apartment.
The departing roommate worked remotely 2-3x a week from a standing desk in the living room, but the bedroom has plenty of space to accommodate a desk and dressers (or many desks and dressers). Could provide a queen bed frame and potentially mattress, and will be leaving a dresser behind.
Several laundry options on surroundings streets (including the delightful Pearl Lee’s laundry bar). For groceries there is a Key Foods, Bob & Betty's, Western Beef, and Union Market, all within 10-15 minutes. There’s a Planet Fitness down on Flatbush and Major R. Owens Community Center up the street; for those who need squat racks, one roommate goes to Crunch Fitness Park Slope, which is a bit farther but manageable. 11-minute walk to Franklin Ave for the 2/3/4/5, along a delightful strip of businesses on Franklin, and five minutes to President Street for the 2/5. Prospect Park with the B/Q/S is 15 minutes and the B53 runs right up Rogers. Polly’s Café and Rodeo bar are just around the corner, along with other vibrant local businesses, and Prospect Park is an easy walk.
Rent is divided by square footage and Wi-Fi + utilities average $100/person if you’re not aggressively running A/C. Move-in the first half of Feb would be ideal. Please write to us with some basic information introducing yourself & your job, your living habits and interests, and when you’d be looking to move.
Your roommate, James, is a 31 y/o man (he/him) who works remotely developing curricula for kids in his hometown in coastal Oregon. Homebody, a professional poet, lover of all arts (literature, film, painting, theater, music). Likes to joke around and cook, though fine if we need to keep to ourselves. Seeking someone who is responsible, relatively tidy but not a neat freak, and friendly, and okay living with a night owl (though the apartment is large enough sound is not really a problem).
