Are you feeling stuck on that fiction project and not sure how to revise it?
I love helping stories become the best versions of themselves. My goal in coaching is not to tell the writer what to do, but to help them identify what is working in the story and what could use more polish. This includes story elements like plot threads, character arcs, tension and pacing, and world building. I will happily answer questions and talk through ideas as well.
My rates are based on word count and the depth of feedback requested. I also offer phone and video calls if the writer wishes to talk about the critique.
With each piece I provide overall developmental edits in the form of an edit letter as well as a handful of line comments throughout the manuscript. I like to leave notes as I'm reading, including positives ones pointing out where I am delighted as a reader.
I have been a fiction writer for 15 years and have been critiquing other writers' work for just as long. My work has been translated into 12 different languages and taught in classrooms around the world. I have experience in tie-in writing (Magic the Gathering) and essay writing as well.
If you would like more information about my work, please see my website below.
I have published over 50 short stories and my fiction has won a Nebula Award, and has been a finalist for the Hugo, Locus, Sturgeon, and World Fantasy awards in recent years. I have critiqued hundreds of works and I love it when I get to help a draft becomes something amazing.
I have taught and mentored writers of all ages, including at Clarion West, Alpha Young Writers Workshop, and through the Science Fiction Writers of America.
