PLEASE NOTE: PET CARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SUBLET - NO ADDITIONAL PETS ALLOWED
Hello, I'm offering my large, sunny, private 1 bedroom apartment in central park north for $600 a week July 1st through August 8th (I am slightly flexible on start and end dates). I am reducing the apartment cost by $150/week in exchange for care of my cat Eartha and my plants while I am away (from $2800/month, $3000 with utilities).
Cat Care:
My cat Eartha is a sweet 2 year old kitty. She is social, loves to snuggle and is well behaved. She has an automatic pet feeder and automatic litter box so her care is VERY low maintenance. Litter care is emptying the automatic litter bin once every 10-12 days. I also give her a portion of wet food once per day. Her automatic kibble feeder has to be refilled every 30 days. Her water fountain has to be washed and refilled once every 7 days. She can be alone for a day/night if needed and occasionally miss a wet food feeding.
About the Agreement:
I'm charging $600/week or $2400/month. Total for time period = $3200. All utilities are included. The apartment is actually a 2 bedroom but my bedroom will remain unavailable with my things in it while I'm gone. I am asking for payment up front and require a timeline that will match with the dates I am gone because of Eartha needing to be cared for (give or take a few days at the beginning or end).
About the Apartment:
It is completely furnished and the bedroom has a queen size bed (it’s a sturdy and comfortable pull out bed with a tempur-pedic mattress topper). The apartment (fourth floor walk up) is spacious with large ceilings and has amazing light for the majority of the day. There is no laundry in the building but there is a great laundromat 30 seconds away on the corner of the street, and you don’t even have to cross a street to get there (they have wash and fold rates and offer pickup and delivery!).
The kitchen is freshly painted but is a bit outdated and there is no dishwasher (but a brand new refrigerator which is not pictured in the photos). The bathroom is also outdated and you have to monitor the drain (avoiding letting hair or other things that may clog the sink/shower). I put up with the quirks of the space because the old building also means there are tons of large, beautiful windows, the ceilings are higher than you’ll normally find, and the place is spacious with the rooms in the back of the apartment away from street level noise.
I require a deposit of $1000 to cover any incidents or accidents. This will be returned within 7 days following the completion of your stay and upon an apartment review of any damages. A short-term rental agreement between the two parties will be provided. (In all the years I've subletted my place I've never had any issues, so I don't foresee any problems.)
Location:
My place is located right above Central Park North (near 113th and St. Nicholas Ave). I love my neighborhood and my neighbors and will only consider people who respect the Harlem community (it can be noisy at times with music playing on the street, or people hanging out on the stoop - so if this bothers you, it’s not the space for you). It is a 3 minute walk to central park and the express 2/3 train (and a 7 minute walk to the C/B train).
Please provide me with some kind of cat care reference and other experience you have with animals/cats? People who have cat experience are preferred. Thank you!
Also can you feed my sourdough starter? Haha (half joking?)
My name is Maria (she/her), and I’m a 40 year old opera singer and voice teacher here in NYC. I've lived in NYC for 10 years and will be away working during this time period!
Looking for someone who is easy going and flexible and likes to keep a tidy space and will be mindful and courteous to Eartha, my things, my belongings and furniture while I'm gone. Couples welcome.
Hoping this is the right fit for you and that you're a cat person (please provide some kind of pet reference)! I’m happy to video chat to show you the place and walk you through it or discuss details. I’m open to different lengths of stay, so please don’t hesitate to ask!
Respectful of all people - LGBTQ, anti-racist, committed to equity and inclusion!
I would prefer someone who is very low maintenance/easy going (okay with old apartment quirks that are very typical to these old NYC apartment buildings). If you're turned off by creaky floors, old cabinets, no dishwasher, neighbor noise etc this is not the place for you. Please note, I won’t be able to add you to an official lease and you will be considered a short term subletter given the length of stay. The furniture can’t be moved or changed or added to since it’s a furnished bedroom. I can only entertain people who are just bringing their clothes and personal items.
