About this Service

Guitar students will learn chords, rhythms, tabs and fingerpicking used across genres in music today. Students will learn chords using a combination of tabs and demonstration. If interested, students can also learn theory and sheet music. (I teach for acoustic and electric guitar)

Piano students will learn the basics of piano including sheet music, scales, chords, rhythms and major/minor keys. We will learn music theory and put it to practice in the songs that we play throughout class.

Voice students will work on pop/rock and/or musical theatre styles. We will start each lesson with instructional warm-ups meant to build our vocal agility and range. We will learn and work on vocal techniques that will bring the songs they're singing to life.

Hello everyone! My name is Selena Tibert and I live in New York City where I work as a theatre artist and musician.

I have been working as a music teacher for over 5 years and I love seeing students faces light up with joy when they learn something new and exciting. As a teacher I strive to instill a sense of wonder and fun when it comes to music. Education should be universal, so I make sure to try multiple approaches to give each child the same opportunity to grow! Along with teaching technique, I love to encourage creativity so everyone can learn in the way that fits them!

Background and Expertise

I am a musician and teaching artist located in Brooklyn. I perform in two bands, have played many venues throughout the city and have toured coast to coast. I have a BFA in Musical Theatre, am an Equity actor and have worked professionally in theatres across the country.

I have been teaching beginner to intermediate guitar, piano and voice privately for 5 years. I teach all ages!
