Subletting our spacious but super cozy two floor, 1-bedroom apartment in the Lower East Side with exposed brick, skylight, wooden built-ins, spiral staircase, and jacuzzi tub — across from a park!
Dates can be a little flexible but we are looking for around Nov 23rd (Sunday) to December 27 (Saturday). Price for a month is $7,500, and then we would prorate for however many days we decide on.
However... if you want to cat-sit while you sublet, we would offer a 100$ per week discount and leave our sweet cat (Smoochy) with you!
We are a literal stone’s throw from the F-train 2nd Avenue stop and Whole Foods, we are also a five minute walk from the J/Z train at Bowery, the B/D train at Grand St, and the 6/B/D/F/M train at Broadway/Lafayette. So you are right in the heart of lower Manhattan, but you live on a quiet, tree-lined street across from the Sara D Roosevelt park basketball courts, and a block from the beautiful Mfinda Kalunga Community Garden.
The apartment is located where the Lower East Side meets the East Village meets SoHo meets Nolita — aside from great train access, there is great food, libraries, shopping, and everything else Manhattan has to offer. You can jog the West Side or the East Side Parkways, or bike over the Williamsburg or Manhattan Bridges to be right in Brooklyn.
The apartment itself has an open floorplan living room and kitchen upstairs. An iron spiral staircase takes you downstairs to a bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathroom with a shower, jacuzzi tub, and in-suite washer/dryer. There is a basement for storage, and a small backyard for bikes and stuff. It is the 4th and 5th floor of a walk-up building. Because it’s the top floor, you hear no noise from other neighbors in the building, and the apartment faces the back, so it is insulated from street noise. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking stuff as well as everything you need to just start living: linens, coffee makers, etc. There is a fold out couch in the living room too :)
We will pay for internet and utilities up to $300 (which should cover everything unless you really go nuts and like to leave big appliances running all night every night).
I am a journalist and researcher who loves to cook and keeps a clean, organized home. My wife is a non-profit immigration lawyer who loves to craft and jog. We have a young son and fluffy cat.
We own the home, it is in a coop so we know all our neighbors and are looking for people who are respectful to them and to our home.
2 References from past landlords or people you have sublet from so we know you are real humans and also won't destroy our place.
$1,500 deposit, paid back two weeks after the sublet period ends.
We will draw up a simple sublet agreement for you to sign.
