Welcome!
I believe my job as a teacher is to help support you in technical and artistic growth as a vocalist, no matter whether you're a seasoned performer or a total beginner. I prioritize vocal technique and vocal health while guiding development of organic creativity and harmony between mind and body. Common topics in lessons include, but are not limited to, vocal technique, expanding range and vocal agility, sight-singing, breath control and body awareness, music theory, developing stage presence and building confidence, developing your authentic artist voice, and songwriting.
AVAILABILITY:
Private voice lessons are open to students of all genders ages 7 years old to adult. Lessons are LGBTQ+ friendly.
PRICING:
I offer a sliding scale to make lessons as affordable to all interested as I can. Sliding scale is an alternative payment method that allows for multiple price points adjusted in order to meet the needs, circumstances and incomes of a variety of individuals as an exchange for services. In essence, you will have the ability to pay what you can within the price range I offer, based on an honest self-evaluation of your financial circumstances. Singing lessons are incredibly enriching and rewarding, but also expensive. I offer a sliding scale in the hopes it can make my services more available widespread to all vocalists eager to learn.
Please contact me at the email below for my rates. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions if you have them.
LOCATION:
Lessons are held in-person in my studio in Bedstuy area and online via Zoom. I can also travel to student's homes with an additional travel fee, dependent on the travel distance. Even though I am based in NYC, I work with students from around the world, so please don't hesitate to inquire if you live in a different state or country.
If interested, please write me. Hope to hear from you!
Best,
Alex
As a vocalist and working artist, I have loved being a nationally-touring musician working with various bands, operas, and interdisciplinary projects at venues such as The Detroit Symphony, Joe's Pub, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, and the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival. My work encompasses improvised music and Jazz, new music/classical, pop/rock, musical theater, and electronic music.
In my ten years experience as a vocal instructor, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of students in both private and group music lessons, Teaching Artist residencies, and university masterclasses. Whether it's exploring aspects of rhythm or registration, challenging my students to dig into the storytelling of a song, or working to prepare for a performance or an audition, I love watching faces light up when discoveries are made about what is possible. I prize self-expression and every student's unique journey to explore their potential.
