Studio size room in two bedroom apartment for short or long-term occupancy (depending on compatibility). I occupy the second bedroom but spend most of the year out of town.
My apartment is one of 8 units in a renovated, early 20th century building. It's on the the third floor of a four story walkup. To conserve space I installed bookshelves in the long hallway which lead to the open studio. Positioned at the rear of the building street noise is limited and two large windows reveal a treetop view. The kitchen and bathroom are the only shared spaces. They are of modest size and comfortable with modernish fixtures and tiles. There is also an on sight laundry in the basement.
Conveniently located, my apartment is two blocks from lush Prospect Park, it sits between two subway stations servicing both the B and Q trains. It's around the corner from Flatbush Avenue, a major artery in Brooklyn and is minutes away from the Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Gardens, Zoo and library. There are also several grocery stores, produce markets, local bars and eateries in the area.
The commute to Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan is less than five stops away by subway which runs 24 hours. The building is also easily accessible by bus and taxi. If you have a car, street parking is available.
I travel 3/4 of the month and may be in town 5-7 days a month or every other month. I'm looking for a single woman to share the space with. My ideal housemate is financially stable, employed, clean and kind. If cleanliness is an issue I will suggest a monthly cleaning service. With limited shared space I prefer a housemate who does not entertain frequently. There is absolutely no smoking allowed in the apartment or building. Currently the room is empty. (The furnished pictures were taken before the last person moved out.) I may able to provide a bed and a few items of furniture if you do not have your own.
I look forward to connecting with someone here.
Thanks!
I'm a GenXer (she/her), visual art professional (gallery director/independent curator/writer). I manage an art gallery in Manhattan and have a four year old son. I moved to NY in 2010 but have family obligations outside the city. I try to cook at home but spend most of my time out. I enjoy connecting with people over ideas, art, books and general conversation. I have a wonderful BK community but don't much socialize in the apartment. I enjoy riding my bike and taking in the city when time permits.
