The studio is a beautiful space. It is about 400 square feet with 22-foot ceilings and a large eastern-facing window. It has two large work tables, which can be removed. It's a great space for a painter, cermacist, graphic artist, photographer or other creative.

The bedroom is adjacent to the studio and includes a hallway with built in closets and a private bathrrom. There is a large common kitchen and living area. It is shared with a cinematographer/ceramcist who has an upstairs bedroom and bath well separated from your room on the main floor.

Located at The Brewery, you can join an incredible community of artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, architects, and other creatives. It's the largest artists' colony in the country, on a 12-acre gated site with 320+ studios and over 500 people living and working here.

The loft has a cool steampunk vibe with a giant satellite dish light fixture and hand-made metal fixtures in the kitchen and studio. Only two people will be living in the loft.

We are all vaccinated because we are new grandparents:-). Please share your vaccination status when you inquire. The Brewery follows all COVID guidelines.

Hi-speed internet is free. The utilities are included with an summer fee for AC - usually $50/month for a couple of months.

Our studio is on the second floor and should be considered a walk-up except for large loads. Our building has a loading dock with a keyed elevator, and we can give you access when needed to move work, furnishings, and/or equipment, etc.

You have secure off-street parking in our gated community parking lot. We have newly renovated common roof deck (not pictured) with downtown sunset views. There are also among several common spaces- including two small parks.

Our onsite bar and restaurant, Barbara's at The Brewery, is open Tuesdays through Sundays with a full bar and food from 12 to 11 most evenings. It's a great place to chill and meet other Brewery artists, USC medical staff, UPS drivers, and people from Stronghold Climbing Gym, which is on the premises.

This loft is part of the original Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery and sits on Tongva land. There are some 16 buildings, including an 1893 Power plant, now Stronghold Climbing Gym, one of the best on the West Coast.

Twice a year, the Brewery Artwalk attracts over 10,000 visitors in the Fall and Spring to visit over 100 open artists' studios where you can show and sell your work or walk around and meet your neighbors. The next Artwalk is this weekend Oct. 25 and 26.

The Brewery is located in Lincoln Heights, a historic neighborhood in a great location close to Downtown, the Arts District, Chinatown, Union Station, Olivera Street, Little Tokyo, the Broad, MOCA, and many other museums and points of interest. There are many restaurants in the area. We are a 10-15 drive to Echo Park, Silverlake, Griffith Park, Los Feliz, Highland Park, Old Town Pasadena, Trader Joe's, and farmers' markets.

Within a 10-minute walk are two parks. The Los Angeles Historical Park is where you can run, walk, stretch out, picnic, and see significant music events (Megan Thee Stallion in Dec.).

At its edge is Chinatown's Metro Gold Line stop, which can take you to the beach in about 45 minutes as well as to Highland Park and Pasadena. The 76 bus and Dash stop outside The Brewery and Union Station is about 1.5 miles away. The Flyaway bus to LAX is located on the back end of Union Station.

Also nearby is Lincoln Park, with a year-round public outdoor pool that is also great for walks and outdoor BBQs. Lincoln Park has a recently renovated pool open all year.

LAX is about a 25-minute drive, as is the beach if you travel off-peak, and the Burbank airport is about 15-20 minutes from the Brewery. We are just off the 5 Freeway and close to the 101, 110, 10, 710, and 134.

This is an unusual opportunity to live and work in a great loft, but also the chance to live and work in a true community, a multi-generational and diverse group of artists and creatives of all kinds in a supportive, welcoming, and collaborative environment that is truly unique.

About This Lister

My husband and I have exhibited work in the US and internationally at museums like MoMA and others. We have curated exhibitions and collaborated on large-scale public video installations. As a sculptor, painter, and mixed media artist, my husband has a full-time art practice.

I am a filmmaker and installation artist and currently running a small arts-based social justice and civic engagement non-profit for college students. In 2019, we drafted and helped pass legislation to mandate voter and civic education for 2.5 million students at public colleges. I also work as a director/camerawoman with my own production company. My last doc won an LA Emmy.

We love art, food, travel and our families and love to meet our roommates on the roof for coffee or sunset beer.

Rental requirements

My husband and I are the leaseholders, live just a few doors away, and currently use a portion of the space to store our work. We are artists and filmmakers who have been here for almost 40 years. Our agreement with you is month to month, with a 45 -day notice, though we prefer a minimum stay of 6 months. A a longer-term roommate is welcome. We are looking for a roommate who is chill, neat, and friendly, with proof of income and references. If you are interested, we can meet virtually and then schedule a visit if you are local. You will also meet privately - virtually or in person - with your new roommate to see if it’s a good fit.

To move in, we require a signed lease, the first and last month's rent, and a one-month security deposit.
