Hi! My name is Kate (she/her), and I'm a 42 year old copywriter and creative looking for a new roommate, as the other tenant has accepted a new position in California.

The room is very large (especially by NYC standards), about 17×17 feet, with 2 large windows. It is also located on the opposite end of the apartment from mine, so there's a nice sense of privacy despite sharing a home. The room has some furnishings which are up for grabs (otherwise we'll clear them out), and the new tenant is very welcome to decorate as they wish - within reason, of course :)

The 2 and 5 trains are a 5 minute walk away, and the B Q are about 10-15, depending on your hustle. There are also a number of great coffeeshops, bars, and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and beautiful prospect park is just a stone's throw away.

In addition to a great apartment, I have some pretty awesome neighbors as well :) so I'm hoping to find someone kind and thoughtful so we can keep the positive dynamic going.

A little about me: I'm a very creative person and am currently working from home full-time, but I have a very active social life and other commitments, so the next tenant can trust that I'll be out of the house often. I am friendly, respectful, clean (but truthfully not a total neat freak), and prefer considerate communication as opposed to letting problems fester. I'm told I'm funny, I make very good soups, I play violin (but often get shy when others are around!), and I co-parent an obscenely cute and well-behaved terrier called Lily, who spends a few days with me here and there.

I'm LGTBQ+ friendly, 420 friendly (I imbibe myself but go on the fire escape), and do enjoy a good night out without bringing the party home. I'm very hopeful to meet someone close-ish in age that I can have a great relationship with, while also respecting one another's space and independence. It goes without saying, but being respectful and financially responsible are a must.

As it's a rent stabilized building, I'm the only one currently on the lease. My past four roommates and I drafted an agreement to protect both parties, which has worked out great. I only hope that, assuming it's a good fit, the next tenant might want to stay a minimum of one year, as I selfishly find this process taxing :) but if they'd like to leave (or I myself am finding it to be a negative experience), I only ask for one month's notice.

Utilities come to around 70/month, depending on the season etc. Historically, they've been pretty reasonable.

Sadly there's no laundry in the building, but there are laundromats right around the corner. There's also an elevator in the building should anyone need, as my apartment is on the 2nd floor.

I'm hoping to start meeting interested folks as soon as possible, and we can even do a quick video call of the space first if that's preferable. I'm also very happy to answer any questions - I'm sure I haven't covered everything! Please just reach out and I will try my best to respond to everyone.

Thanks so much for reading, and good luck to all of us!

About This Lister

I'm a 42 year old writer that's active, social, and friendly. I like to cook (often with the record player going), enjoy a great chat, and can be just as silly as I can intellectual. I'm just as happy going to the opera as I am a dive bar, and some of my favorite nights have in fact included both.

But don't let my social side fool you! I can be rather introverted too, so it's not unusual for me to pop in to say hi before shuffling off to my room to recharge :)

I am really hoping to find someone with a similar vibe - friendly yet independent, with a happy balanced life both inside and outside the home.
