Hello!
Come hang out for the winter in a big, beautiful brownstone in Crown Heights. We have two rooms opening up due to travels this season.
When we're all in town, we’re eight housemates spread across a full four-story house with great amenities -- a proper backyard (garden with a deck and bbq), two kitchens, a massive living room, reading room, washer/dryer, 4 full bathrooms, and a basement for storage. The house was built in the 1890s and the details are still there -- crown molding, funky flourishes, wood panels, stained glass.
We live semi-communally, as in: friendly vibes, a house meeting every three weeks, light dedicated chores and some communal items like a monthly cleaner for common spaces. As a house, we try to be engaged in each other’s lives, but there’s also no pressure to engage. Given how big the house is and that it’s holiday season, people will be traveling and the house may feel quiet.
We're looking for sublets for any of the following periods; all dates are flexible.
- Dec 18 - Feb 15
- Dec 29 - Feb 15
- Dec 18 - Jan 10
Depending on your dates, you may move once to the other available room, as different people will be out of town. Both bedrooms are larger than NYC average (approx. 250 sq. ft) with two windows and come fully furnished with desk and monitor, closet, books, art, and beautiful plants 🪴 Shared bathroom on the floor.
The neighborhood is wonderful and tree-lined. We're near Franklin Ave, full of coffeeshops and bars, and a few blocks from a grocery store. 5 minutes from the A/C train, 10 minutes from the 2/3/4/5, and especially accessible by bike and Citibike.
Hi👋🏽 We are: two podcast producers, an urban planner, two people who manage a camp for kids, a therapist, and a creative in advertising. We’re all late twenties/early thirties, live active lives and generally balance community with curiosity; sometimes we have some friends over but it's not a party house.
We're looking for someone who is friendly, sociable, curious, enjoys hanging out as well as their independence. And is open to living a bit more collectively (but not all the way -- we do buy our own groceries).
Rent is $1700/month which includes utilities, wifi, common supplies (detergent, olive oil, etc.) + a monthly cleaner for common areas.
Please email us about yourself -- who you are, what you’ll be up to in the city, and what interests you about living here. We'll video chat and if it feels like a good fit, you’re welcome to come by to see the place. We're looking to move quickly.
