About this Service

Hello! My name is Tessa Smith, I'm a private tutor based out of LA-- I recently had a few spots open up in my schedule and I'm looking for the perfect students to fill them. My base rate is $150/hr but as a rule I work on sliding scale. I do not believe in turning students in need away and I will gladly collaborate with you to meet your point of comfort. I can work in-person anywhere in the Northeast LA region but I primarily work over Zoom.

About this Lister

My tutoring is trauma and neurodiversity informed (I have AuDHD myself) and I would describe myself as playful, earnest, and goofy, and my teaching style as student-centered, joyful, patient, unpretentious and warm. I myself learned Latin at an all-girls high school (the oldest high school in Kansas City!) and I would say I have a particular knack for and take great joy in teaching and mentoring young women.

Background and Expertise

I have a dual Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University in Gender Theory and Classics, and I've been tutoring professionally for six years now. I am trained in SAT/ACT/HSEE Prep, college application essay writing, and K-8 all subjects, but my absolute favorite thing to teach is Latin! I teach middle school, high school, and AP level translation-- or, if you are outside of an academic environment but are curious to learn, I can design a curriculum for you.
