Share Our America is the Belfer Center’s next big initiative whose mission is to help people build the foundation for change in their communities by forging unlikely relationships and unlocking trust across differences. Led by local community leaders across our country, Share Our America gatherings bring divided communities back together. The initiative equips local leaders to gather people who represent a range of political, religious, and cultural backgrounds to discuss pressing issues in their communities. We build the foundation necessary for neighbors to listen without judgment and solve the challenges facing their communities.

After Share Our America gatherings, participants not only report increased understanding (95%) and respect (82%) for people different from them, but they actively make plans to improve their communities (95%) alongside the community leaders and institutions who brought them together (including schools, faith-based organizations, and law enforcement departments). These gatherings have already led to churches housing refugees, law enforcement re-evaluating policies on high school campuses, and business owners transforming into community organizers. These videos from Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee dive deeper into the impact of Share Our America.

We're expanding our work with the goal of reaching 80,000 participants in the upcoming four years.
