Sprawling, airy 236-sq ft bedroom w/home office (60 sq ft) in a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom Windsor Terrace apartment, one block from the park & 2 blocks (5 min walk) from the F/G. Room looks out onto a quiet, tree-lined residential street with a small-neighborhood feel (lots of young families, sweet dogs, longtime residents who say hello when you walk by, a bodega with the most wonderful owner and best BECs in the city). Also a few blocks away from the beautiful & historic Greenwood Cemetery.
Unfurnished $2100/month or furnished w/ essentials (not the decor in pics, though that's a good reference for what it can look like decorated!) for $2400/month, plus utilities. There's a TV in the room you'd be welcome to use.
The building is small, with just 3 units; I'm friendly with the neighbors and like to be respectful of noise (the hardwood floors can make things a bit echoey at times). Short walk from local coffee shops, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, Terrace Books, and Nitehawk Cinema.
I have yet to come across another bedroom in Brooklyn this spacious. The original hardwood floors! The huge built-in shelf! The massive (!!) closet! The cozy little office perfect from working from home or using as a writing/art space! Enough room to work out (or do a really Really big puzzle) in your bedroom without feeling cramped.. etc etc!
Seeking a subletter for 6 months (April 1-September 30), with some flexibility on dates within that timeframe for the right person. My wonderful roommate of 5 years is moving out of this room and my also-wonderful girlfriend and I will be moving into it on Oct. 1, so I'm looking for someone who'll enjoy it for the spring & summer & share the apartment's common spaces (living room + dining room + kitchen + bathroom) respectfully and tidily.
Things I'm looking for in a roommate (and the same go for me):
-will wash dishes or load into dishwasher before end of the night
-will give a heads up if more than a couple friends coming over to hang out in common spaces
-no smoking inside
-no pets (sadly)
-ages 25 and up
-will keep things generally clean to avoid bugs or any other visitors we'd rather avoid <3
-good vibes ! happy to let you do your thing & have chats when you're in the mood to but also just coexist in friendly peace
And since I work remotely/am home a good bit of the time: people who work in person/are out & about for at least some of the week to the front (though not a requirement)!
Appliances-wise, there's coin-operated laundry in the building, and we have a dishwasher. The kitchen has all the essential kitchenware, though there's room for yours too. The bedroom has a bunch of light; the rest of the apartment doesn't get as much natural light given the railroad layout, so we keep it nice and cozy with lamps, and those rooms don't get too warm in the hot months as a result.
Feel free to ask any questions about the space, I'm sure there's plenty I'm forgetting!
29, she/her, playwright & editor who works from home. I’ve lived in New York for 7 years and this apartment has been my home for 4; it’s without hyperbole the best place I’ve lived. My girlfriend is also over a good bit, so we’ll both chat with candidates to make sure it’s a fit all around. We like to play cards, have movie nights, take on semi-ambitious recipes, and sometimes have friends over for pizza and gin & tonics.
My room is on the other end of the apartment, so there’s a lot of nice built-in privacy—if you’re watching TV in your room, for instance, I won’t be able to hear you, and vice versa (a rarity in any New York 2br!).
-security deposit (1 month rent)
-rent on the 1st of each month (Venmo is best)
We can also draw up a contract just so we're on the same page & have it in writing!
