Cozy 4th floor Studio apartment with windows encompassing an entire wall, located right between Murray Hill and Kip's Bay by 2nd Avenue on 36th street. The apartment was entirely renovated in 2023, right before I moved in. Multiple outlets along every wall, the space can comfortably fit dorm-style living with 2 people if desired. The walls are pretty soundproof, so no real issues with noisy neighbors. It is a 7-minute walk from both Target and Trader Joe's, and has easy access to multiple buses going uptown, downtown, and across town, overall a great location.
The apartment will be unfurnished, and will be professionally cleaned on September 2nd. The window and bathroom curtains will remain installed.
The building DOES allow pets, though I myself don't have any. Please let me know if you plan on moving in with one! There are many dog owners in this building, and the doorman is very friendly with them.
Transportation:
Within 2 blocks of buses M15/M15-SBS, M34-SBS/M34A-SBS, and M101/M102/M103.
M15-SBS to downtown is 4 blocks away.
M34(A)-SBS bus stop on 2nd ave is 4 stops away from the 34th street Herald Square subway station, which accesses lines B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W. The bus stops right next to the entrance. M34(A)-SBS/M34-SBS stops right in front of Penn Station on 7th and 8th ave.
M34(A)-SBS westbound goes to Port Authority Bus Terminal.
It is an 11 minute walk to Grand Central-42st subway station, which accesses subway lines 4, 5, and 6.
Gas is included in rent.
Wifi and Electricity not included.
- Wifi is $60 a month
- Electricity averages $65-110 a month, depending on electricity usage.
(It's to be noted that I'm somewhat conservative with electricity, and opt to use a fan instead of the AC. Regular use of the AC or a space heater raises the cost to about $100-$110 in my experience)
Building features:
- Built in 1963
- Reliable elevator
- In-building laundry (in the basement)
- Small complimentary gym at the ground/lobby floor
- 24 hour doorman
- Live-in Superintendent with same or next day maintenance
Apartment features:
- Newly renovated kitchen
- Dishwasher
- Gas stove and oven
- AC
- Newly renovated large bathroom
- Spacious coat and storage closet at the foyer
- Walk-in closet
- Overhead light installed in the main living space, no need for lamps
Some things to know:
- The apartment faces the busy 36th street, right near the entry/exit of the Queens Midtown tunnel
- The windows are not soundproofed, and the road rage/revving engines can get loud at times in the night
- Building-controlled heating isn't great, I'd personally recommend having a space heater
As a renting tenant, these are the only complaints I've had after 2+ years of living here.
I'm a recent SVA alum, having graduated with a BFA in illustration in 2024, looking to build a freelancing art career. I was an international student, and will be travelling back to Asia for several months while I figure out my work visa situation, hence my subleasing of the apartment. I'm looking for a responsible tenant that will reliably pay rent and keep the space undamaged (regular living wear and tear aside).
Proof of income/ability to reliably pay rent, from either the tenant or guarantor. International guarantors are fine. Documentation can be a recent bank statements or brokerage statements, showing a yearly income of at least $150k.
Signed sublease agreement
$2000 refundable safety deposit
6 month lease required, but can potentially be flexible for 5 or 7 months.
