Overview:
Amazing location 120 & Amsterdam between three parks (Morningside, Riverside, and Central) and one block from Columbia University and Teacher's College - furnished room available for rent in three bedroom apartment.
Available:
Long Term: May 15th - August 15th 2026 +
Or Summer: May 15th - August 15th
Roommates:
We keep a very adult household with high expectations for cleanliness, courtesy, and communication. Looking for someone ready to be a mom, not need a mom. We mostly keep to ourselves but lovely to a chat in the kitchen every now and again. I work from home most days so ideal would be someone who works outside of the house. Jeremy is a visiting scholar from Switzerland and working at Columbia. We are both vegetarian, it would be great if you are as well but not required.
Room:
Room is about 10.5' by 11' and comes fully furnished with a queen bed, book case, desk, and decorations. There is a fan for shoulder seasons and AC for summer. It has one window, small closet, and plenty of storage under the bed. The window looks out on the back of the building and gets a nice amount of sunlight. You can hear some noise from the street during the day.
Apartment:
Three-bedroom apartment with spacious layout, eat-in kitchen, and living room. TV, DVDs, as well as streaming. Kitchen is well-stocked with cooking tools, supplies, and new dishwasher. Throughout the apartment there is dedicated space for each roommate to keep their things, as well as shared space for temporary use by roommates or guests. Flat rate for utilities is $125 and covers electricity, gas, internet, household supplies, shared streaming, repairs, etc.. Everything is well organized, labeled, and stocked but I do usually have one pile of chaos going somewhere at any given time with a house project of re-organizing, fixing, cleaning, or re-decorating.
Building:
The building is a beautiful, classic, New York pre-war apartment on a tree-lined street one-block from Morningside Park, three blocks from Riverside Park, and ten-minute walk to Central Park. The lobby and halls have charming details like decorative molding and tile work. Heads up, there are three steps from the sidewalk up to the front door. The elevator was replaced a few years ago and the laundry room had three sets of machines in the basement.
Next Steps:
If you're interested, please write back with a little bit about yourself, what's important to you when sharing an apartment with roommates, and if you are looking for a long-term stay or just for the summer. If it sounds like a fit, I'll write back with the Terms, Required Courtesy, and video tours for you to review.
Then, if you are still interested, we'll have a 10-15min call to go over details, answer any questions, and set up a time to visit the apartment if it's a match.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Heather
I'm generally a keep to myself homebody, but do love to have a chat in the kitchen or movie night here and there. It's nice to get to know you, and spend a little time with you at home.
I'm very neat and clean and organized. I love putzing around the house, improving household systems and organization and decoration. I love science, philosophizing, and home making - sometimes combining all three.
I'm a vegetarian, would be great if you are too, but not required.
I am the lease holder of the apartment.
One month rent is required to hold the room/security deposit.
