I’m 21 years old, quadriplegic, and use AAC to speak (a computer) and I’m looking for a caregiver(s)!
You must be able to lift (I weigh around 90 pounds) and help with a lot of physical and personal stuff. You don’t need experience, but you need to be open to learning and good with details. Because you are helping me with college work it's helpful if you have experience with college level work. I’ll pay you through the Medicaid systems – so this is an “on the books” position!
I work well with people who have a strong sense of social justice, including disability justice, and who like to explore the world with me. I’m thinking about being a film or cinema major and I go to a school with a lot of artists. I love to watch sports, go to museums, listen to music, and spend time in the park.
I live on the Upper West Side with my parents and my small friendly dog who barks but is super sweet. I go to school in Purchase NY a couple days a week (we drive).
Right now I'm looking for people who can work Thursday and Sunday and/or some weekday evenings (can be somewhat flexible). You would need to be reliable and be able to commit for at least a year. Rate dependent on experience/hours between $30-35/hr.
I'm a 21 year old part time college student. I go to Purchase NY and I live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I'm quadriplegic, use AAC to communicate (an ipad) and love to laugh. I'm interested in studying film and I love to go to museums and performances. I live at home with my parents and the three of us will train and support you. I also have a small friendly dog.
You also have to be okay going through two different government systems to get paid (called Self Direction and CDPAP) which involve basic health screenings and fingerprinting. This is an "on the books" job so you have to be able to work in the U.S., and be okay with having taxes taken out.
