Position Overview:
We are looking for a part-time Technical Designer / Product Developer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong apparel technical knowledge who understands the full development process — from initial concepts and tech packs through sampling and production communication with factories.
The position will begin as a 30-day freelance trial period, with the opportunity to transition into an ongoing part-time role.
Schedule & Location:
-Approximately 20 hours per week
-Hybrid role
-Minimum 1 day per week in our Brooklyn office, with occasional -additional in-office meetings as needed
-Candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance of Brooklyn, NY 11219
-Compensation: $27/hour
Responsibilities:
-Create and/or oversee pattern development and corrections
-Develop detailed tech packs for factories
-Create product illustrations and technical sketches in Adobe Illustrator
-Review samples and prepare organized factory comments and revisions
-Work closely with factories throughout development and production
-Support sampling workflow and product development timelines
-Assist with textile print setup and related production files
-Help ensure fit, construction, measurements, and finishing details meet brand standards
Qualifications:
-Strong understanding of garment construction and patterns
-Previous experience creating apparel tech packs and technical illustrations
-Experience working with factory development files and -production processes from initial development through final production
-Experience communicating directly with factories is a strong plus
-Highly detail-oriented and organized
-Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously
-Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator required
-Experience working with babywear, childrenswear, or similar -apparel categories preferred
-Must be authorized to work in the United States
