Shop Cat, a full fabrication and design shop located in Red Hook Brooklyn, is currently looking for a full time project manager to join our team. Our shop designs and builds custom props, fixtures, and full experiential build outs for events and retailers.
Position Overview:
The Project Manager position is both our client’s and fabrication team’s primary point of contact. They are responsible for creating detailed quotes, leading internal teams from the initial project kick off through installation and strike, as well as maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and our rolodex of freelancers.
This position requires a good understanding of building methods. The ideal candidate has a background in fabrication or experiential production. We are looking for someone that is a creative problem solver, who thrives in a fast paced environment, with tight turnaround schedules.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Serve as the main point of contact and liaison between the client and production team
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, understanding their needs and objectives
- Develop change order estimates and liaising between the client and the production team.
- Assess incoming project inquiries, estimate cost
- Develop project timelines, schedules, and manage active project budgets
- Manage internal teams including technical designers, fabricators, carpenters, scenics, creative technologists, and designers to ensure builds are completed successfully and safely
- Liaise between prop, carpentry, and tech departments, to determine best build practices
- Calculate and purchase materials, maintain a positive relationship with vendors
- Oversee multiple project work streams in various stages of development
- Extreme attention to detail, and meticulous note/record keeping
- Efficient, confident communication and decision making in high pressure situations
- General knowledge of fabrication, carpentry processes, and building techniques is a plus
- Experience with 3-D software such as Rhino is a plus

Our hourly rate is $40.60, hours are from 9-6 with an hour break for lunch, and two 15-minute breaks throughout the day. Pay is via W2, invoiced weekly, and available via ACH.
