We have a queen bedroom in our beautiful 3-bed + office, 2.5 bath in prime Bed-Stuy, opening up October 1st!
About the apartment:
I’ve lived here for three years — the place is a gem! A beautiful, 1st-floor unit on a quiet, tree-lined brownstone block. Complete with a spacious, dare I say chef's kitchen, dishwasher, central AC and heating, projector, a built-in wall vacuum system, and paid laundry in the basement. It's a lovely place to come home to.
Location:
The location is also fantastic — at Putnam and Throop, just one block from all of the bars, restaurants, and shops on Tompkins, and three minutes from two grocery stores. Also within a block: one of Brooklyn's best bookstores, a very friendly plant shop, great coffee, etc.
For transit, we’re a 7-minute walk to the Kingston-Throop C, 12 minutes to the Nostrand A/C, and 20 minutes to the Bedford-Nostrand G.
The room:
The room, like the rest of the apartment, is quite beautiful, with hardwood floors and brick inlays. It comes unfurnished, and will easily fit a full or queen-sized bed, dresser, and desk — with more storage available in what is a fairly roomy closet. You've also got two large, north-facing windows, looking out onto Putnam Avenue.
About us (and you):
You’d be living with two working musicians: me (39M), a saxophonist and writer; and Yessaï (30M), a pianist and recent transplant by way of France. We’re quite social, but very adult. It’d be great if you are, too.
As we're often at home working and/or practicing (not excessively, but certainly a bit) during the day, and at shows at night, someone who works outside the home and keeps later hours would be ideal.
Aside from music, we both cook quite a lot — me in particular. If you don't like Thai food, this is perhaps not the apartment for you (and also sad!). We also keep the place quite clean. Maybe even too clean. Hopefully that’s also your speed.
Most importantly, the energy here is calm, creative, and friendly. We both have busy lives, but are looking for a true third, as opposed to simply sharing the space. A woman would be ideal, just to balance the house, as would someone in their late-20s or 30s. But really, we're open to all.
I (39M) am a saxophonist, writer, and teacher at Berklee, originally from the Bay Area. Yessaï (30M) is a French-Armenian pianist, and recently moved to Brooklyn from Marseille.
Please respond with a bit about yourself (social media and/or website very welcome) if you're interested. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
