Our 1890 cottage is on a very quiet street, nestled into the side of a hill in the heritage Rondout neighborhood on the edge of the Catskills in Kingston, with a view of Shaupeneak Ridge. The house is ideally located three blocks to the creek, and 10 minutes walking to the downtown area, in the middle of all the Hudson Valley has to offer.

It is 1200 square feet, two stories, and has two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king sized bed (pictured) and the other (not pictured) that will be set up with both a full-sized crib and a trifold memory foam convertible floor sofa bed (we can leave up the blackout curtains if you want to bring kids). For longer stays, for those without kids, we can set up as an office with an external Mac monitor if preferred. Newer, efficient window AC units in the bedrooms and downstairs.

There is a newly renovated full bathroom upstairs with a tub and a half-bath downstairs. The original 1890s floor boards are shown in these photos upstairs, but we will either have rugs largely covering or put new hardwood floors down before your stay (now that our baby is on the move!).

Downstairs is open concept, and our kitchen and mudroom/laundry room/coffee counter area were recently renovated.

The living room area has a new corner sectional, a Roku TV, and a record player, and a digital piano and ukulele. The dining area has a table set for four. The kitchen is well-equipped with new appliances and an espresso bar. There is a "coffee bar" surrounded by plants overlooking Shaupeneak Ridge that makes a great work space as well.

We also have an outdoor dining area on the bluestone patio, and a small backyard with a hammock, kitchen garden, flowers that will be in bloom, a side deck and a breeo fire pit.

This is our primary home, so we will tuck away personal items but you will see our decor around the home.

For people with young kids: there are white metal baby gates blocking the bottom and top of the stairs and around the piano where the AC plugs in that we can leave up if you wish it to be baby/toddler friendly. We will have the option of leaving the cabinet and appliance locks etc. on for you & some of the sharper corners are already foam covered. Outlets, cords, and plants are protected as well.

We have a ten month old so there is baby gear available (a bassinet and a minicrib we could set up for you, in addition to the full crib; toys, stokke high chair, diaper pail and changing table, etc.) but we will tuck that all away if you're not bringing a baby/toddler.

We are officially registered for rentals with the city and so have fire extinguishers on both floors and smoke alarms / carbon monoxide detectors throughout the house.

To get here, you can take a bus right to kingston, the metro north to poughkeepsie, or the amtrak to Rhinecliff. Best to have a car to get the most out of the area; we have a small hatchback we could potentially rent to you if you need a vehicle for your time here.
