I'm moving and I'm helping my roommate fill my room in a spacious triplex on a quiet residential street in Bushwick. This is a shared space, but at times has the feeling of living alone. That's due to a unique aspect of the unit: Each tenant has their own individual common spaces, including separate kitchens and bathrooms. The basement is where your future roommate (a freelance videographer in his late 30s) has his common space, which doubles as his home office (he has his own kitchen and half-bath there). The ground floor would be your common space, complete with its own kitchen and half-bath. In addition, you have direct access to the spacious backyard. On the second floor, the bedrooms are located down the hall from each other. The room you would occupy is large, has lots of closet space, and gets good light. In addition, there is a room (the size of an actual bedroom, not a tiny closet) next to your bedroom that you can use as you see fit (as an office, for storage, etc.) Each person has their own full bathrooms (the roommate's bath is ensuite; yours is across from the second room). Finally, there is a washer and dryer in-unit! Above is a separate apartment on the top floor. Both roommates have their own separate entrances to access the street and the backyard via the basement and ground floor, and the upstairs neighbors have a separate entrance to access their unit (they do not have access to the backyard).

My roommate is laid back, respectful of privacy, tidy, and a good communicator. The landlord is generally responsive to any issues that may arise.

The ground floor is partially furnished. The furnishings belong to my roommate, and he is willing to clear some items for the new tenant(s). The available room will be unfurnished. Couples are OK!

As for transit options, the closest subway stations (roughly 10-12 minutes away) are the Halsey and Wilson L stops (it's a nearly equal walk to both) as well as the Halsey J. There are also multiple bus routes nearby as well as a Citi Bike dock.

Rental requirements

Landlord requires proof of income as well as 40x the monthly rent as income. Guarantors are accepted.

This would be a lease assignment/takeover, so you’d fill out a standard rental application with the landlord.

Security deposit is one month’s rent.

Utilities (Con Ed and National Grid) and Internet (Verizon Fios) are evenly shared between roommates.

Pets Policy

The landlord is OK with cats.
