This room is in a community house by Union Square in Manhattan. 26 residents live here in a 5-story brownstone, we have a chef who makes dinner Sunday to Thursday, we have lots of shared indoor & outdoor spaces, and the house has two managers.
The room is in the back of the house on the third floor. It has two windows, a bed (single), a desk, a closet, and a sink. I share a bathroom with three other residents though the house has many more bathrooms which can be used. The room has plants and I will leave directions on how to water the plants. Note the building does not have an elevator.
I have been living in this residence for about six years now and I think it is a unique and special place! I think spending a month here would be a fascinating experience for many. Also, the location is exceptional if you want to explore NYC.
Current residents of the house range in age from 20’s to 60’s. The residents span a wide variety of professions, studentships, ages, ethnicities, religions, etc. The house is LGBTQ friendly. Joining communal dinner is encouraged but not required.
You will need to fill out an application and attend an interview (in person or virtually). Upon acceptance, you will be asked to pay the one month rent to secure the room.
Upon arrival, you will need to sign our House Manual.
While here, you will be assigned two house jobs to be performed each week, and you will need to clean the bathroom on an assigned weekend.
Note there is no alcohol allowed in public spaces, and smoking/vaping is not allowed anywhere in the house.
