Large bedroom in Crown Heights brownstone 2-bed available for sublet (dates flexible) June-July 2025, with option to take over full apartment lease starting August 1. Women/nonbinary roommates strongly preferred; no pets, please.

Building is 16 units total (4 per floor) with roof access and a beautiful view – we often have dinner parties or watch fireworks up there. Unit is on second floor of a walk-up (no elevator or laundry in building). The unit has south and east views, and looks out onto a quiet, green backyard.

Bedroom available for sublet can be furnished or unfurnished; has a closet, room for a desk, shelving, dresser, queen/king bed. Apartment is furnished (until July 31 move-out) with a fully equipped kitchen, so easy for a 4- or 8-week summer stay or as your transitional place while house-hunting/moving. Roommate is friendly urban planner in her late 20s; she'll be home roughly 4 nights per week. Room for sublet is $1650/month, including all utilities and WiFi; full apartment rent will go to $3,300 with new lease on August 1, 2025.

Bergen St. is quiet and tree-lined with a bike lane out front and excellent cafes at each end of the block; in the middle of Crown Heights within walking distance to the A/C, S, LIRR, 1/2/3 and 4/5 trains.

About This Lister

Remaining current tenant is a quiet, friendly urban planner in her late 20s who travels frequently and stays at her partner's place 3-4 nights per week. Departing current tenant (me) is a designer/education admin in her 30s, moving in with her partner in Greenpoint, hence the vacancy before the lease ends. We've been here two years and this has been a good home base while we get our bearings in the city. Departing tenant is taking her two cats, so there will be no pets in the unit during sublet. Happy to leave the bedroom fully/partially furnished or empty.

The apartment is fully furnished as pictured, and the kitchen has full-size appliances (fridge+freezer, gas stove/oven) and lots of cabinet space, so it's been easy to split the space and use as much (or as little) as you like. Bathroom has a full-size bathtub and recently regrouted shower. There is no laundry in building, but we highly recommend Dynamo Duo (4mins away) for laundromat or wash-and-fold service.

Happy to discuss your timeline for June and July, whether or not you're looking to take over the lease from August onward! Can work with you to apply with the landlord if you'd like to sign the new year lease. The remaining tenant will be moving out July 31.

For sublet, 4+ weeks is preferred, and a security deposit for 1/2 the length of your stay will be required. All utilities and fast WiFi (with an in-unit mesh network) included.

Pets Policy

There will be no pets in the apartment during the sublet, but the unit (and furniture) has had cats, so not currently an allergy-friendly space. If taking over the lease, there are no restrictions or fees on pets in the building.
