Room plus bath in sunny, spacious Bed Stuy apartment

Rooms for Rent

$1,650/month

Available

May 1, 2026 - September 30, 2026

Neighborhood

Bed Stuy, Brooklyn

Transportation

Bedford nostrand G, Myrtle Willoughby G, bus

Size

1,000 sq. ft.

Room + bathroom for rent in a spacious, sunny Bed Stuy apartment a 7 min walk from the Bedford-Nostrand and Myrtle-Willoughby Gs. B38 and B54 buses also right here. Very central neighborhood.

The lease runs until Oct but will likely extend - can discuss!

Space: Apt is around 1000sq feet - a full floor. 2nd floor, no elevator.

No laundry on-site, but there's a laundromat across the street with the sweetest owners and they offer v. reasonable wash-and-fold they do themselves.

Large windows. My room is on the way opposite side of the apartment (I'm the only roommate).

The available room would fit a queen, but l'd suggest a full-sized bed for more space. You can also add furniture on that side of the house - again, it's a big spot with both privacy and room to play. Decent-sized closet.

*I am open to switching my office to the smaller room and offering my office, which is larger -- the disadvantage is that we then share walls and not as private. The current roommate has loved the smaller room, though. YMMV.

There are two baths — you'd have exclusive access to the lovely main bathroom in the hallway, which *has a bathtub*!

Cats: I have an affectionate and playful cat, Punky. I keep all his cat stuff (food, litter) on my side of the apartment, but he will say hi! Probably best not to bring in another animal.

You are: kind, reasonably tidy, easy to communicate with, collaborative, and have an active life. More on me below!

I get along best with creative folks who are thoughtful, flexible, caring, and collaborative. Vibe-wise, I prefer a dynamic where TV isn’t the focus — I like to be around books and art (but I def binge some shows and movies from time to time!). I love music and sometimes play it, but only from my room. If it's ever annoying, we talk about it and figure out boundaries for sound, etc.

It would be great to have someone here who shares leftist values, knows what’s up in the world, and cares about the neighborhood. It’s probably more suitable for folks who work outside the home day-to-day or most days, but it really depends.

If this sounds like you, please shoot me a message and let me know about yourself and what you're looking for, and for how long. I wrote a bible above because I want to find the right fit :). Also feel free to ask me any questions!

I've included a pic of the empty space before I moved in so you can get a sense of the space.

Thank you!
Sara

About This Lister

39yo woman, she / they. Writer / UX content designer / during the day and comedian / comedy writer by night. I work mainly from home during the day. (There’s a 3rd room here that’s my office.)

I’m friendly, silly, nerdy, and creative. I love people but also need solo time and space to create and be, hence this apartment!

I love creating an arty oasis vibe, but with a sense of light and humor and spaciousness. I keep things organized but I'm not type A (that said, not keen on clutter). I lucked out with this apartment!
