My sweet roommate of many years is moving in with his partner and I am looking for someone to take over his room! Ideally this person is similarly conscientious and kind. I am an AFAB queer person and would prefer living with another queer person but honestly anyone who is gentle and nice would be lovely. The apartment is massive and feels like a home - cozy with warm lighting and lots of plants. I have a nice sound system and big TV. All appliances are modern and up to date.
*The room is open starting Jan 1st.
[I am prioritizing good fit with roommate so I am okay if move in date is anywhere between Jan 1 and Feb 1 (or even later for the right person, that’s okay!)]
**I ask for a 3 month trial period before we commit to any longer term stay.
***Must visit the apartment in-person to be considered!
Please send email stating a few days and times you’re available to stop by.
****Rent includes all utilities - WiFi, Heat, Power.
The brownstone is located on a residential, tree-lined block in Stuyvesant Heights. The apartment was recently renovated and it’s beautiful with original hardwood floors and sky lights. There is a private patio and a shared backyard that is maintained by landscapers 3x year. The neighborhood is becoming increasingly cute (gentrification) - coffee shops, little grocery stores, new restaurants, wine shops, library, Saratoga park, etc. I’ve lived here for 5 years and love it! Neighbors are all really friendly and look out for each other. In the summer the street is closed on Saturday for kids to bike and play. Lots of street parking. Feels incredibly peaceful with birds and trees.
This is a good spot for someone looking for a home that is small escape from the hustle of the city.
10 minute walk to the Halsey J and Ralph C.
Tons of citi bike stations too.
About the room:
Primary bedroom, south facing (great light), walk-in closet, full private bathroom, mini split AC/Heat unit.
Furnished with queen bed!
About the apartment:
2 floors!
First floor is living room, kitchen (modern appliances!), .5 bath, private outdoor patio, and access to backyard (shared with garden apartment neighbors).
Second floor has 2 bedrooms (I’m the other tenant), 2 bathrooms (each bedroom has its own private bathroom), an office, and a W/D (!)
An important note: I have nice pieces of furniture, like a wooden dining table that’s very sensitive to heat and moisture, with items like these I strive to preserve them for a long time and hope you’re down to treat the items in the house respectfully as well. I’ve also fully furnished the living room and kitchen so you’d be joining a home that has an already established vibe that I’d hope you’re cool with!
I’ve been in Brooklyn for nearly 10 years and I feel really happy with the life I’ve built and the friends I’ve made! I am a clinical psychologist (i.e., therapist) and I work from home a few days per week (usually from the office room). After work, I benefit from being super chill at home to process the day, go out to exercise (climbing and lifting a lot lately), or head out to hang out with friends.
I socialize out of the house and I like living with people who also like to spend time outside, whether for work or fun. Occasionally I invite friends over for dinner and I throw parties like 2-4x year.
An ideal roommate would be someone who appreciates a calm home life, has a robust life outside the home, is respectful and kind, and a good communicator.
