// The long:

My current roommate of 3 years is sadly moving out of NYC so I'm looking for a new roommate to take over her portion of our lease in a beautiful 2BR/1BA apartment in Ditmas Park. We're a short <10 min walk from both Prospect Park & Cortelyou Ave where there's lots of great bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. If you're not familiar with Ditmas Park, it's a stunning historic residential neighborhood with beautiful architecture, quiet tree-lined streets, and the easiest parking I've ever encountered in NYC. The departing roommate is currently in the process of moving out, so there's some flexibility in the exact move in date between now and the end of February.

You would be taking over the primary bedroom (unfurnished), which comfortably fits a king-size bed and full WFH setup, with a large walk-in closet with built-in drawers. There's a shared windowed bathroom with a full size tub, bidet, and storage. The kitchen is (in my opinion) the apartment's best feature, with marble countertops, new appliances, a bar, a dishwasher, and so much cabinet space I literally don't know what to do with it all. The kitchen is open to the living room, so it's a great layout for hosting friends, which I do from time to time. The apartment is mostly furnished outside of the departing roommate's bedroom, but she's willing to sell furniture if you're interested. Sadly, no laundry, but there's a great laundromat just 1 block away.

About This Lister

I'm Austin, 34 years old, he/him. I'm a manager at an architecture studio & fabrication shop in the Navy Yard where I'm in-office every day. While at home I like to keep my space clean, quiet, and peaceful, but that doesn't mean there's not a dirty pot in the sink every once in a while. I spend most of my free hours cooking (kitchen is well-stocked), making things (lots of my own furniture in the apartment), and cavorting around outside with my dog, Juneau. She's an extremely affectionate, well-behaved Australian Shepherd mix who gets along with everyone, human and animal alike. I'd be thrilled to have another pet join the house pending landlord approval.

I'm hoping to find an easy-going, type-B roommate that I can build a friendship with, and who shares common values of cleanliness, communication, and mutual respect. Being a dog-person is a must, and willingness to help out with the occasional dog walk is a bonus.

Rental requirements

Prior to moving in you'll be required to sign an amended lease in place of my departing roommate and buying out her $1750 deposit. The landlord will also require you pass a credit check and provide proof of income.

Pets Policy

When I moved in I was required to show emotional support documentation for my dog - the landlord may require the same of your pet.
