We’re hoping to sublet or exchange our San Francisco flat during this period. For an exchange, we’re ideally looking for a location in a major city in the UK, Ireland, or Spain, for a stay of two to three weeks, up to a month if possible, though we’re open to other cities or towns as well.

Our home is a bright, comfortable, and thoughtfully lived-in flat, designed for ease, everyday enjoyment, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The flat features:

Three bedrooms: one queen bed and two full beds

Split bathroom with a large clawfoot bathtub and separate shower

Fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher

Living room with piano and TV with streaming services

Dining / reading room with desk—perfect for work or quiet mornings

Miele washer and dryer

Heaters in all rooms (air conditioning isn’t really needed in San Francisco)

High ceilings, hardwood floors, and abundant natural light

Household linens provided

Thoughtful touches throughout that make the space feel inviting and easy to settle into

The flat is east–west facing and on the second floor of a four-unit building, entered via a gated porch with a few stairs, followed by one full flight up to the apartment. This is a home that’s actively lived in and well cared for—comfortable, functional, and full of life rather than staged.

Location highlights:

Just off Haight Street (and a few blocks from Cole Valley) with a vibrant mix of cafes, restaurants, bars, and excellent grocery stores, plus beloved local spots like Amoeba Music and The Booksmith

A quiet residential block, despite being in the heart of the city

Across the street from Buena Vista Park, with stunning city and Golden Gate Bridge views

One block from the Panhandle, offering a playground, basketball courts, and plenty of picnic spots, and places to read

A short walk to Golden Gate Park, home to the de Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, SF Botanical Garden, Conservatory of Flowers, and more

Four blocks from Divisadero Street and the Lower Haight’s popular eateries and shops

Excellent public transit access with easy connections throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area

Northern California is also renowned for its beautiful beaches and public lands, all easily accessible for day trips or weekend adventures

Travel and sharing our home with family and friends—both old and new—are important to us, and we love exchanges that create meaningful experiences. If our flat feels like a good fit, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

About This Lister

I (they/them) work in education and am a writer. My son and daughter, both recent college graduates, and I love to travel—together and independently—and value the curiosity, perspective, and connection it brings. We share a love of music, film, books, long walks, good food, and, above all, people.

This has been our family home for many years, and over time we’ve built thoughtful, cooperative relationships with our neighbors. We care deeply about our community and are committed to maintaining those connections with care, respect, and consideration.
