Charming, quirky, 2 BR (double bed in each) old-style writer's casita blocks (10 min walk) from The Plaza. One of three casitas in a compound officially dating to at least the 30s in Santa Fe's picturesque Historic East Side Neighborhood--walk to The Matador for drinks, The Shed or The Compound for dinner, The IAIA for art, and along the Alameda trail beside the Santa Fe River at sunset to exclaim in awe at the beauty of this place.

Saltillo tile floors in most rooms; tiled shower and kitchen. Coveted, good-sized, adobe-enclosed front flagstone patio is like an extra room for much of the year (even January in '25!). 2 BRs--one, La Cueva, is quite small, truly a room for a bed, but also my favorite-dark and cool in warm weather, cozy in the winter. The larger, La Scala, is a back BR with a writing desk and separate entrance. Kivas are decorative at present, I'm afraid. Diminutive but totally serviceable full kitchen. Antique and vintage furniture true to the casita's early-mid 20th C. origins. Electric heating units, utilities included (up to a cap for electrical); good wifi for work & streaming; street (dirt-road) parking; hummingbirds and towhees galore. Generally quiet but not sepulchral neighborhood.

Unfortunately, as is typical in this historic area (Santa Fe was founded c. 1610) the casita is accessed by uneven, fairly high stone steps and has steps up and down inside as well.

This is not a sanitized and newly-gentrified investment prop, it's my treasured, if a little dated, part-time home--a delightful spot in an unreal location--for writing under the patio umbrella or musing or eating sopapillas and tamales--and listening to the wind speak through the two big elms. Ideal for the fall festivals!
