My current roommate is moving away for school, so I am looking for a roommate to sign a new lease. Move in would be 10/1, but the next lease period starts on 11/1, so 13 months total.
This is a queer-friendly and 420-friendly space (i.e., smoking on the balcony, not hotboxing the apartment). Looking for someone on the same page.
Bedroom: The bedroom can fit a queen mattress with enough space for a desk and dresser. There’s also a sliding door closet and a good amount of space for storage in the common spaces. The selling point are the bedroom windows which get amazing sunlight during the early afternoon. There’s also a small balcony that is shared between the two rooms that can fit 2-3 people.
Appliances: Hardwood floors in the common space and bedrooms, tile in the kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen is equipped with up-to-date appliances including a full-sized fridge, microwave, stove, oven, and functional dishwasher. Coin-operated washing machine and dryer located in the basement of the building. Laundry room also has a change machine. Central A/C and heat. Responsive landlord. Courtyard access. Bike rack behind a locked gate for residents.
Neighborhood: East Williamsburg, right on the border of Bushwick; 2 minutes from L train; 10 minutes from G; bars and restaurants (Win Son!) are right around the corner in addition to various bars/bodegas/restaurants.
IMPORTANT: Apartment is NOT ACCESSIBLE - 3rd floor walkup, no elevator
I've lived in this apartment for 3.5 years. I'm a 30-year-old Black cis gay guy who works in public health and makes music as a hobby. I work from home during the day, so am ideally looking for someone who’s out during the workday. Usually keep to myself when home, but down to hang out occasionally. 420-friendly, but prefer to keep any smoking outside on the balcony. I have friends over maybe 1-3 times a month, but generally not looking to bring the party home.
October rent would be $1488, and starting in November rent would be $1535. October Rent + Security Deposit for move-in ($3023 total). Utilities range between $120 and $190 per person depending on the weather (A/C and heat use).
Ideally looking for someone making 40x their monthly share of the rent. Will request proof of income and credit score before move-in. The landlord is requesting that new signees complete a lease application covering income, credit, and references - can discuss more details in person.
Small dogs and cats are ok; no large dogs please
