Tucked within the historic grounds of the Byrdcliffe Artist Residency (the nation’s longest-running arts-and-crafts colony) Serenata offers artists a uniquely inspiring living and working environment. Though modest in appearance, Serenata opens into a surprisingly spacious 1,573-square-foot interior featuring two bedrooms, a flexible office/studio space, a large living room, and a full kitchen with an additional small breakfast nook/ dining area. The cottage is available to an individual artist or co-applicants, with shared housing placements also managed by WBG. Best suited for clean and contained artistic practices, Serenata provides not only the comforts of home but also a chance to immerse yourself in Byrdcliffe’s storied legacy of creativity.

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild provides a vibrant center for arts and crafts in the beautiful and unique rural community of Woodstock, NY, while preserving the historic and natural environment of one of the earliest utopian arts colonies in America. It offers a unique and inspiring combination of residency, exhibition, and performance programs that encourage creative collaboration among a diverse array of artists, students, arts professionals, and the public.
Residents must maintain a clean and contained practice appropriate to the cottage, respect the historic nature of the property, and adhere to community guidelines. Smoking is not permitted indoors, pets are not allowed and certified service animals require additional approval. Fees must be paid in two installments (the first prior to move-in, unless otherwise arranged). This is an ideal placement for: Writers, drawers/ collage artists, textile artists and weavers, graphic designers, musicians and composers, water color artists, and others maintaining a ‘clean’ studio practice.
