Nestled in the heart of the Byrdcliffe Artist Residency (the longest continuously operating arts-and-crafts colony in the United States) Yggdrasill offers artists a rare chance to live and work in a truly historic space. Designed by Byrdcliffe founders Hervey White and Fritz van de Loo, the cottage later became home to Jane Byrd Whitehead following the passing of her husband, Ralph Radcliffe Whitehead. With two bedrooms, studio spaces, and bathrooms, Yggdrasill provides ample room for either an individual artist or co-applicants. Artists may also be placed in a shared cottage arrangement by WBG, splitting the total fee. This 1,836-square-foot residence is best suited for clean, contained practices and offers not only an inspiring work environment but also a chance to become part of Byrdcliffe’s enduring artistic legacy.
This cottage does not have a slopsink.

Residents are able to extend their residency in this cottage to February 20th, 2026
