Looking for responsible, considerate person to share a ridiculously large (3700+ square feet) victorian house in Ditmas Park. The house has seven bedrooms across three floors. You'd be sharing it with me, a 50-something academic (and the owner). And occasionally my 20-year-old son when he visits from college.
The rental: it's on the 3rd floor and very private... feels like a separate part of the house. Like its own apartment (w/o a kitchen). The space includes a three-room suite: one very large bedroom (with 8 windows and a turret), a medium sized room, and a smaller room. The latter two rooms are currently used as an office and private living room. Also includes a bathroom. Lightly furnished now...but that can easily change. Since rental is on the 3rd floor, ability to navigate stairs is a must.
Shared space: the 1st floor is shared with me and includes large kitchen, dining room, living room, and 1/2 bath. House has lots of period details and nice furnishing. Fully stocked kitchen with newish appliances. Large backyard. Laundry in the basement.
The area: if you don't know Ditmas, it's a beautiful neighborhood with some amazing architecture. House is quiet, on a tree lined street, just off Cortelyou road...with restaurants, cafes, etc. Close to Prospect Park. And on the Q and B subway with easy access to Manhattan.
Ideal roommate: someone who would enjoy and care for the space as a home...and also be considerate, responsible, etc. Sharing a house as a grown up can be challenging but also fun/friendly/reciprocal...looking for someone who'll contribute to the latter.
Must be pet friendly as two sweet cats and one even sweeter dog live in the house. No more pets, please.
50-something professor (she/her). I value this space as a home and a refuge...and hope to keep it that way. Definitely clean but not a neat freak. Spend a lot of time uptstate, in nature, and traveling for work. Etc etc.
I can be flexible with lease terms for the right person/fit. References required...as well as some evidence of income. First month's rent and deposit upon move in.
