The Room
Spacious bedroom available for lease takeover or short-term rental in 4BR / 2BR top floor apartment (21st floor!). The bedroom has the most breathtaking views of the city, a deep storage closest, and can easily fit a Queen or King sized bed. The bedroom is approximately 11' x 15' feet with a HUGE window overlooking the full length of Manhattan and most of Brooklyn. You will never get tired of these views!
The previous tenant recently moved to Atlanta for work. We're looking for someone who'd want to sublet for the remainder of the lease (through Sept 30th), but are also open to shorter term stays. The room can be leased furnished or unfurnished. There is a full sized bed, small dresser, and mirror in the room, but these can be removed if you have furniture.
The photos of the skyline are the view from this bedroom!
The Apartment
The unit is in Parker Towers, a doorman building in Forest Hills. The apartment is huge - the largest any of us has lived in in NYC. The apartment has a huge living room, a balcony with sweeping views across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, a shared kitchen with a dishwasher, and laundry in the building. Huge common storage closets and tons of cabinets. It is a plant-filled, pet-friendly oasis in the sky and the vibes are truly excellent.
Parker Towers is a large 3-building complex, with doormen, maintenance staff, and lots of shared amenities. There are multiple dog runs, playgrounds, in-unit laundry, on-site dry cleaners, community lawn, and party rooms. The apartment complex hosts cute events each month. There is also a decent gym in the building (for a fee). It's home to young people, old people, and families from all walks of life!
The Neighborhood
Forest Hills is a historic, walkable Queens neighborhood. Conveniently located by the 71st st./Continental Ave Express Subway stop and Forest Hills LIRR. Trader Joes is directly across the street, plus multiple other grocery stores nearby. A Target, CVS, Walgreens, Post Office, Gyms, Coffee Shops, etc are all conveniently located. Forest Hills Stadium is just around the corner. In the summer, you can hear the concerts from the central lawn. There are several beautiful parks and the landmarked Forest Hills Gardens neighborhood to wander through.
- The building has a parking garage (for a monthly fee) but there's also free street parking around the neighborhood, usually pretty easy to find a spot.
Move in dates
Looking to fill the room for March 1st, but the room is available now if you needed an earlier move in.
This is a 4-bed, 2 bath apartment with 3 people and pets as the current residents. You'd primarily share the apartment with two mid-30s professionals.
- Christine (34F) is a psychology/neuroscience researcher who studies creativity.
- Ryan (35 NB) is a psychotherapist who works from home over zoom. Makes a killer espresso martini. Might make you cinnamon rolls.
The other bedroom is sublet by a woman who lives in the neighborhood and uses it as a part-time office, though she's not here much. Her cat Fifi lives here full time and mostly keeps to herself, but sometimes graces us with her presence.
Christine's dog Luna also usually lives here, but she's currently in CA on extended vacation for the next few months with her dog dad. Luna is a ~ 50 lbs retriever mix, very sweet, very smart, and doesn't bark.
This arrangement means we have essentially 3 people (including our new roommate) in a 4-bedroom apartment. We all have a ton of space to ourselves and it's very comfortable.
The other leaseholder (32M, Art Historian, Christine's partner) is away on fellowship in LA for the remainder of the lease. He will be back for a few weeks in August- September.
Dearest potential roommate -
You should:
- Have proof of income and demonstrated ability to pay the monthly rent.
- LQBTQ friendly
- Dog and cat friendly! While not strictly necessary, we hope you like hanging out with pets. They are both very sweet and love people.
- Be clean and courteous of common spaces. We keep to ourselves but keep the kitchen and common living area tidy as a courtesy to our roommates. We are social and have the occasional guest or gathering, but mostly don't bring the party home.
- Looking to rent to 1 person only.
Parker Towers is a pet-friendly building. We are open to roommates with dogs as long as they are friendly to cats.
