Looking to sublet my wonderful, spacious, 700+ sf clean studio space in a studio building in quiet East Harlem, Manhattan. Easy access to busses and subway.
I will be away in Rome and Vermont from January 30 2026 to Mid-October 2026. Meanwhile, I want to keep my space for when I return and store a few studio items in a corner niche. Excellent open space for photoshoots, non-toxic painting/drawing/installation or fiber arts etc.
New floor was installed a few years ago by a dancer. All 4 white walls-brick and wall board with some Homasote installed for pinning up drawings etc plus good electric track lighting. There is one window where you can install an air conditioner if needed. View looks out onto back yards.
Your $1800 a month rent to me includes heat, electric and the maintenance fee for common spaces. The total monthly rent for the space is $2230, but I am willing to pay the additional $430 per month to keep my small pile of stuff in the back storage area (shown in pictures). I’m willing to lend my tables and chairs, or they can fold and go into the storage area.
There’s a nice Gallery and community art space on street level, and three other working artists on my studio's floor. Shared bathrooms and cleanup sink on floor and freight elevator access. Nice respectful community here. A quiet, mature artist is ideal for this space and studio community.
I’ve been painting and showing professionally since 1974. I am a Rome Prize winner and professor emeritus of painting.
$1800/month rent and $1800 deposit. Must be willing to sign sublet agreement prior to move-in. Must be clean, quiet, tenant, respectful of other artists working in the building. Tenant responsible for cleaning, returning the space to original condition prior to move out.
