About this Service

Stingray Artist Journey is a 9 week virtual program that sits at the cross-roads of an art residency and a retreat, a space to generate work in your medium of choice, alongside supportive workshops to help heal creative blocks, and tap into new ways of accessing your body’s natural intelligence. We are currently enrolling cohort members for a new journey beginning on April 7th-- and our application deadline is April 1st!

Unlike a traditional residency, where artists are granted uninterrupted space to make work, our space will be designed to provide built-in nourishment and support for your creative journey. Oftentimes, our creative journeys are a highly individual pursuit, a solo experience. Our work is to heal the inner artist, relationally, in community, so that we can unfold as the creative humans we are.

We will use the first weeks of our time together to engage in intention-setting practices around how you want to use this journey. We will call upon creative processes to inquire within about what each of us is being asked to explore as a creative focus during this time, both in terms of theme, and modality. We will only encourage a “finished piece” or “completed project” if that is a personal intention of yours.

Collectively, we will be offering InterPlay, authentic movement, narrative therapy, & expressive art practices, to help you hone in on what’s alive for you right now. We will explore the places where we commonly get blocked, as well as identify and build on our strengths, and the types of processes that work for us. We will engage in processes that will aid in opening up your creative energy, and move into generative work time from there. We know there is a lot of screen-burnout right now, so each session will have screen-optional time, and time to create away from the computer!

Each live, 2.5 hour session will include workshopping and open creation time, as well as opportunities to share revelations, works in progress, and to receive resonance from the group. At the end of our nine week journey, we’ll celebrate our work (or work in progress, or process-share!) alongside other participating artists as part of our public virtual showcase!

About this Lister

This journey was born out of our own desire for art to be reclaimed by us— the people. To reaffirm each individuals’ birthright to practice creative expression. Art enhances our lives. Acts of creation are deeply necessary in creating a world that is just; a world where people live in right relationship with each other and with the land. Acts of creation are necessary in creating a world where there is room for wonder and joy and beauty, a world that feels closer and more meaningful, with space for our soul callings. Our imaginations are the only places we can find new road maps.

If you resonate, we hope you’ll consider joining our fever of stingrays.
