A true 1 BR apartment on the south side of Crown Heights, near the border of PLG. corner unit apartment gets tons of sun, has tons of plants, and is full of hand-picked art and beautiful furniture that I've selected with care and intention, and keep my home very clean and tidy. I really love my home, but I'll be traveling for a couple of months (taking advantage of a flexible grad school schedule) and I want to leave it in good hands.

My apartment is amazing for one person -- and works for a couple, if you both don't work from home (or don’t mind having one of you work from the bedroom).

Listed rent is the actual monthly rent + average utilities (wifi, electricity, gas, renters insurance) -- but I will give you a $75/month discount if you take care of the plants (prorated for length of stay).

Living room: Big, comfy, beautiful couch, soothing lighting options, Smart TV, record player, home-gym equipment (weights, mats, etc.). Dining table that can be expanded to seat four (or five if you're cozy). AC.

WFH: There's a very comfy work-from-home set-up in the living room, high-speed WiFi, monitor, keyboard, mouse, big desk, ergonomic chair.

Kitchen: Quite big for NYC, with lots of counter space, and fully stocked with all the cooking implements you might want. Bar set-up in the living room with all relevant cocktail making tools and glassware.

Bedroom: Extremely comfortable queen-sized bed, tranquil decor, reading nook, AC, tons of plants. I will clear out plenty of clothing storage for you.

Bathroom: Clean and sunny, with a full-sized tub.

Building: Recently updated unit with hardwood floors in a medium sized pre-war building (no paper-thin walls!!), with friendly but not-in-your business neighbors =) The super lives onsite and is extremely responsive if anything comes up.

Accessibility note: There are a couple of steps to get into the building, and it's a 3rd floor walk up (1.5 flights of stairs), with no elevator access. No in-unit or in-building laundry, but lots of laundromats close by (I can see them from my windows).

Etc: Window unit ACs, fans, 3 smoke detectors.

Location:

Quite close to Medgar Evers College (a landmark to look up the area on a map).

🚆 5-minute walk to both the Sterling and President St stations (2/5 trains); 15 min walk to the Prospect Park station (B/Q)

🌿 Just a few blocks from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, and the Grand Army Plaza farmer’s market

Surrounded by tons of bars, coffee shops, restaurants (I've got a whole list of suggestions to share with you). Multiple grocery stores in walking distance

Rental requirements

I am open to a later end date, but cannot do a I am open to a later end date, but cannot do an earlier start date. I am prioritizing people who can stay the full-time — and please note that I will not respond to requests for less than a month (please save my time and yours!).

Listed rent ($2400/month) is the actual rent + average utilities (wifi, electricity, gas, renters insurance) -- but I will give you a $75/month discount (for $2325/month). Rent and plant care discount will be prorated based on the length of your stay.

I will also ask for a $180 cleaning fee for a professional cleaner upon move out and a $500 security deposit. The security deposit would be returned to you in full after move out, pending any damage. I have a basic sublet lease that I will ask you to sign, and I may ask for references. I am also happy to provide you with references from my previous subletters.

I want to find someone who I feel that I can trust, who I know will respect and take care of my home like it was their own. I'm looking for someone clean, responsible, a good communicator and ideally with a bit of a green thumb (but not necessary!). You should feel welcome in my apartment and treat it like your home. You're absolutely welcome to have a few friends over, small dinner parties, etc. -- just no actual parties. Unfortunately, I can't accept subletters with pets.

Rental steps:

In your outreach, please tell me a little bit about yourself and what you're looking for:
- the specific dates that you are looking for
- if the sublet is just for yourself, or for a couple
- what you (both) do for work
- if you're new to New York (or not!) or just visiting (and for what reason)
- what you're looking for in a sublet
- when you would be available for a brief video-call check-in between 5/21 and 5/28 (vibe check as priority — depending on the timing of the call I may or may not be physically in my apartment at the time for a video tour)
- if you have any questions about the apartment.

I won't respond to inquiries that do not include the above information, and I will only move forward with a few candidates for video calls. I am hoping to finalize all arrangements ASAP.
