Neighborhood

Roma Norte, Mexico City

I have a bright and cozy room for rent in my apartment in Roma Norte, CDMX.

The bedroom I am renting out has a full sized bed, a desk, a large dresser, and closet. It is charming and comfortable. There are sheer curtains to let the gorgeous daylight peek in, and black out curtains if you want to sleep through it all!

The apartment itself is welcoming and comfortable. It is a corner apartment and the main living space has two walls of windows and two balconies. The front room has two daybeds for reading, working and hanging out and a dining area. There is a shared bathroom with a bathtub (which I have never used). There is a small but functional kitchen (which should be remodeled with some additional cabinets in the next few weeks).

The apartment is on the second floor of the building (meaning that there are two flights of stairs to walk up) and there is no elevator. It is a small building - 4 floors with 2 apartments on each floor. As this is a small, family building, the person who would be renting this room should be respectful of their surroundings and would not be expecting to 'bring the party home.' Of course, you are welcome to have people over, but I would prefer a roommate who does not do this every day/night, is not bringing random strangers into the apartment and is quiet and respectful (not silent: please watch your movies, play your music, etc!) when at home. The neighborhood and the apartment building is secure. This is my home and it is important to me that things feel stable here.

The apartment is in a great part of Roma Norte, close to the ‘action', but removed enough that things are quiet and neighborhood-y. Roma Sur, Condessa, y Juarez are all within 10-20 minutes walking distance. We are three blocks from the amazing Sunday farmer’s market (El 100) and a small mid-week farmer's market (El Huerta), 1 block from a big supermarket, and a few blocks from Mercado Medellin which has an amazing and inexpensive array of food and home stuffs for purchase. There are numerous restaurants, cafes, gyms, yoga places, etc, nearby. I’m not such a bar person (but I can tell you where to get a good glass of wine) but there are many bars within a ten-minute walk. There is also an Eco-Bici (akin to a City Bike rental) stand just around the corner.

About This Lister

I am a 50-ish year old woman, from NYC, that has been living in Mexico on and off since the pandemic, and in CDMX since last October. I work from home about half the time (I have a room just for that so I will not be in your space during that time) and also travel a lot so you would often be alone. (I would ask you to water the plants when I am away). I do not have people at the house very often but my assistant does come to work with me about 1-2 days a month.

I am pretty quiet and do my own thing, but I am friendly, easy going and happy to help with whatever you need. I am neat and clean but not obsessive. I value communication and common courtesy. We would need to have a quick phone call to see if we are compatible before finalizing the rental.
