I’m looking for a professional, responsible, cleanly, down to earth, art-friendly, good-energy subletter, for a short-term occupancy (roommate) (3-6 months).
The room in Flatbush area of Brooklyn is sunny and spacious (approximately 23ft x 13ft) with 2 windows facing the sky (and residential buildings across the street). The furnished room is my primary bedroom with a Queen-sized bed, a TV, and a closet plus some dresser space for your things. The apartment has 2 bathrooms, however your bathroom is private and would be across from your room with a door that closes your area.
This room is within my 4th floor, 3-bedroom corner apartment. It has hard-wood floors, a large living room with original art on the walls, a large sit-in kitchen, and balcony (all common places which you'd be welcome to).
It is directly across the street from the subway station (Q & B train), and is on a residential block. We are 2 blocks from Prospect Park. It is one block away from shopping areas/Church Avenue & Flatbush Avenue. It is 20 min (5 stops) to Manhattan.
I am a professional singer and social activist. I live most times in another city and tour for a living, which is why my room is available for rent.
My current roommates include a super lovely queer male professional, who works at Apple. He is kind, quiet, clean, and not known for having gatherings in the apartment. My other roommate is a hardworking stand-up comedian and teacher. She is kind, reads books, cooks at home and has a vibrant energy. There is A LOT of privacy and we keep a clean home that has a peaceful, cozy artsy vibe with plants in the windows. Home is a sanctuary and we are looking for someone who shares that notion.
The building has security at night, an elevator and a laundry room. It is an older building, which means many families have grown up in the building. The neighborhood has a strong Caribbean population, and is mixed with many cultures. I find good vegetarian restaurants nearby, as well as two health food markets that sell fresh juice and smoothies.
I want to say that my large comfy apartment is a rarity in NY these days, and is a place that makes me happy - which is why I live there!
Note: The living room and kitchen have been newly painted in white, since the listing photos.
I am a born and raised Brooklynite, world-traveler, openminded, kind, humanitarian, professional touring singer. I am clean but not uptight. NO BAD VIBES. Spiritual, and artistic. I will not be home for most, if not all, of your stay.
The room is renting for $1050/month, which includes wifi, and utilities.
I require a one-month deposit along with the first month rent. There will be a simple sublet agreement.
Proof of income, or funds availability to cover this rent, is requested.
A reference letter is also appreciated.
