✨ About Our Space

Our oversized 2-bed, 2.5-bath midcentury Upstate home in the walkable village of Ellenville, tucked between the Shawangunk Ridge and the Catskills. It’s over 2,000 sq ft, designed for both work-from-home ease and thoughtful relaxation.

Two large bedrooms on separate levels, two home offices, a cozy living room with wood stove, and the showstopper: a 550 sq ft screened porch overlooking a flowing creek. Outside, there’s a fenced backyard for dog runs, an outdoor shower for hot days, and serene nature down by the creek (take a dip!)

Wellness and most required amenities for a lovely stay: a gym with Peloton (byo shoes) and adjustable dumbbells, great sauna (gets up to 220°F), strong Wi-Fi (we both WFH reliably), and a fully stocked kitchen (multiple ways of enjoying coffee).

From the house, it’s a 5-minute walk to Cohen’s Bakery, Morning Sunshine Market, the live theater Shadowland Stages, and a slew of worthy other shops and restaurants. Berme Road Park with brand new tennis and basketball courts as well. A short drive takes you to Minnewaska State Park and Sam’s Point Preserve for epic hikes and peak fall colors.

A creekside retreat right in the village that blends outdoor nature with creature comforts that hopefully inspires creativity during your stay.

🔄 About the Swap

We’re looking to trade for a 1+ bedroom apartment in Manhattan. We don’t need much, just a pet-friendly place from which to indulge in some urban sights during early Autumn. Our little family is two respectful adults, a sweet 25-pound pup, and our infant baby boy. We travel light, are incredibly respectful, keep things tidy, and will treat your place with care.

We’re also pet-friendly and hoping to connect with equally responsible, like-minded folks who’d enjoy an upstate reset with creek vibes, screened porch hangs, sauna sweats, and a front-row seat to fall foliage. Use our home as a jump off point for Upstate adventures, or stay home and watch the world go by. Would love regular swaps if that interests anybody. Very flexible dates and duration. About This Lister

I’m Chris (35), a born-and-raised New Yorker who once ran a small hotel in Greece. After years on a hot island, I craved mountains and trees which led me to this retreat Upstate. These days I write and am a full-time dad.

My partner Julie (39) works for an animal nonprofit. We’re gentle humans who value curiosity and independent thought. We’ve both lived in NYC at different points in our lives and always miss it deeply, so we try to swap homes at least once or twice a year.

This swap is about soaking in autumn air, reconnecting with old friends, strolling the city with our baby boy, and hopefully catching a few films at the New York Film Festival.
