Job Title: Woodworker and Furniture Repair and Refinishing Specialist

We’re looking for a talented individual with experience in woodworking and furniture repair. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for transforming old or damaged wooden items into functional, aesthetically pleasing pieces, and a commitment to sustainability. You will work on a variety of projects, from restoring antique furniture to crafting custom pieces and creatively upcycling wooden materials.
As a worker-owned cooperative, we are seeking someone who is interested in becoming a future co-owner of our business. While you don’t have to fit this criteria to join our team, we will give preference to applicants who are passionate about becoming a future co-owner of our business.
What you’ll do:
- Furniture Repair: Repair and restore wooden furniture, including fixing structural damage, replacing worn-out parts, and refinishing surfaces.
- Upcycling: Creatively transform old or discarded wooden items into functional and stylish new pieces.
- Custom Woodworking: Design and craft custom furniture and wooden items according to client specifications using mostly upcycled products
- Surface Treatment: Sanding, stripping, staining, painting, and applying protective finishes to wooden surfaces to enhance their appearance and durability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clients and team members to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality results.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished products meet the highest standards of craftsmanship and durability.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Properly maintain and care for woodworking tools and machinery.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a woodworker, furniture repair specialist, or similar role.
- Proficiency in woodworking tools and machinery (e.g., saws, sanders, drills, drivers).
- Strong understanding of different types of wood, joinery techniques, and finishing processes.
- Participation in hands-on shop work is required.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to upcycle and repurpose materials effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to set clear goals, communicate evolving priorities, manage time effectively, and adjust plans as needed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Knowledge of sustainable practices and a passion for eco-friendly craftsmanship.
- A genuine interest in cooperative business models and shared leadership.
- A willingness to learn relevant skills necessary to support shop operations and production including participating in team production meetings and coordinating with the sales team.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a studio or workshop setting.
