This 1860s row house is a short walk from the river, a mile from the town of Athens. We have been staying there part time and renting it short-term, but are now open to rentals between 1 month and a year.

The 2-bedroom, 1,120 square foot home is bright, filled with character, simply furnished, charming and quiet. We've designed it as an unfussy place ideal for couples or small families.

There is one full bathroom on the second floor, up a somewhat steep old staircase. The house is furnished, and the kitchen is stocked but you are also welcomed to bring your own things. The beds are new and comfortable, the living room is great for reading and talking - there's no TV but the wifi is strong and good for streaming. The heating/cooling system is brand new, high-efficiency electric. The back room has a washer and dryer. We love cooking and eating in the big kitchen, taking hikes in the nearby Catskills, exploring the towns along the river and beyond.

We are 10 minutes from the town of Catskill, less than 20 from the town of Hudson, 40 from Hunter and Tannersville and 30 from Saugerties. Woodstock is a bit further but a lovely drive. The house is also a fine place to just cozy up with a book, a movie or a deadline. We've left some books and a few games there.

We are an artist/teacher couple with a 16-year-old son, who live most of the time in NYC. We would like to rent to artists, families or visiting professionals (or combinations thereof). Please contact us to learn more.

About This Lister

We are Aaron and Johanna, longtime NYC residents, performing artists and teachers. With our son Harold, we make a vibrant life in the East Village. Aaron makes theater, teaches part-time at Princeton and is a resident artist at Abrons Arts Center; Johanna is a choreographer/performer, pilates instructor and teaches in various capacities. We were very fortunate to get this fixer-upper and get to work on making it shine. We are seeking quiet, mature, flexible folks who can appreciate the quirky, bright charm of this space and our neighborhood and Greene County.
