I’m an artist heading overseas for a long project, and I’ll be away for an extended period. This space has been my home, my studio, and my sanctuary. Shaped slowly and thoughtfully over time. It’s housed good thinking, quiet mornings, late dinners, and deep rest. Now lm looking for someone like minded to enjoy it in my absence . Someone who will not just live here, but truly inhabit it.

It’s a unique, open-plan apartment of just over 1000 square feet, with its own private garden (another 400ft), beautiful light, and a calm, spacious energy that’s rare to find in the city. It would suit someone creative, grounded, and independent — a person who finds joy in the way the morning light falls on the floor, or how plants shift during the day.

✦ The Space
• • Open-plan layout with lime-washed floorboards and floor-to-ceiling garden-facing windows
• • Long dining table seats ten when extended
• • French-style built-in cabinetry with clean white finishes and soft cornicing (“Storage is everywhere, but you’d never know at first glance.”)
• • Underfloor heating, dimmable spotlights, and excellent Wi-Fi
• • Flexible areas for living, working, hosting, or resting (“There are so many sections in the space — it naturally lets you shape your rhythm.”)

✦ Sleeping Arrangements
• • A semi-private sleeping area is tucked gently away from the main space, screened by a mid-century wood screen (“It’s light-filled and private — a soft breath of a bedroom, not shut off, but perfectly its own.”)
• • A convertible sofa also becomes a second bed if needed (“Perfect for a guest… who won’t stay too long. The sofa’s just uncomfortable enough to encourage departure.”)

✦ Work & Studio
• • A standing worktable and dedicated desk area make this ideal for artists, writers, designers, or anyone working from home
• • Abundant natural light throughout — perfect for photography, editing, drawing, quiet thinking (“My mind works in shapes and patterns, and this place speaks that language.”)
• • (NB: not suited for heavy painting or anything too messy — the finishes are beautiful and deserve to be kept that way.)

✦ The Garden
• • Morning light at the table — perfect for breakfast
• • Midday sun across the whole garden, then gentle afternoon shade
• • Weber grill, Santorini chairs, and a rich sense of calm (“At certain times of day, the whole space glows — it’s lush, vivid, and oddly hypnotic.”)

✦ Kitchen & Bathroom
• • Fisher & Paykel double electric hotplate
• • Breville multicooker (bakes, roasts, air fries — it’s wildly capable)
• • Built-in fridge and pantry storage
• • Dishwasher
• • Bathroom tiled in black-and-white hand-painted Cuban ceramics
• • Washing machine with retractable drying line, plus a great local fluff-and-fold that takes cards

✦ The Neighbourhood
The apartment sits in a four storey brownstone in Stuyvesant Heights, one of Brooklyn’s most quietly beautiful historic enclaves. The neighbourhood is peaceful and private, with tree-lined blocks, old architecture, and a sense of rhythm that makes you slow down — in the best way.

You’re surrounded by excellent cafés, grocers, gyms, and restaurants, all within easy reach. And the subway is a short and elegant walk — the kind that makes you feel like you’ve stepped onto a film set.

✦ A Few Notes
This apartment is in a small long standing group of tenants.Everyone is quiet and mindful of each others concerns. Being an old building, things do go wrong which is handled by one of the tenants. Should be running smoothly though, as maintenance is up to date.
• • Semi-furnished — personal and fragile items will be removed; I’m happy to discuss adjustments with the right person
• • Private street entrance available, but I personally love the grand shared front entry (“There’s something ceremonial about it — a tiny bit of drama every time you come home.”)
• • Best suited for someone calm, tidy, and self-sufficient — an artist, writer, researcher, or remote worker who values space, privacy, and atmosphere
• • Not suitable for young children (Pets may be negotiable — happy to discuss)

‘Must love gardens.”

About This Lister

I’m a sculptor who splits time between Brooklyn and Australia. My work is deeply influenced by form, technology, and industrial design — but also by philosophy, film, and the emotional texture of place.

I travel often for projects, and I care deeply about spaces — how they hold us, how they shape attention and energy. This home has been a sanctuary [and a labor of love] I’m looking for someone calm, self-sufficient, and appreciative of detail and atmosphere.

I’ll be in touch with selected applicants to arrange a call or viewing. References and proof of income will be requested if we move forward — but first, I want to know who you are.
